  • Hey Everyone...

I've been playing WoW and DDO, but I just couldn't seem to stay interested. WoW just had a poor community, and DDO had a lack of content. I played FFXI at my friends house and found it to be much better than both of them. I've played nearly all the other Final Fantasy's except for IV and VI and with that have beaten the ones I have played. So I'm sure XI won't upset. So I guess I'll embark on being a noob once again, hopefully not for too long though.

    Re: Hey Everyone...

Welcome to FFXI and to FFXI Online's community! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. However, be sure to make liberal use of the search function here. Many things can be easily answered that way.

Also, as an aside, 4 and 6 were two of the best classic FF games. You're missing out!

      Re: Hey Everyone...

Welcome! Hope you enjoy your stay.

Two major differences between XI and the console FFs you should make note of:
      1) "Throw more potions at it" is not an economically viable strategy.
      2) Crystals are freakin' everywhere.
      Ellipses on Fenrir
There is no rush. If you're not willing to take your time, don't be surprised when no one wants to give you much of theirs.

I played DDO. I *love* the battle system they have and the dungeon crawls with traps. Like the one where you step off the ramp and the entire room is becomes one big fire trap (especially funny when people decide to run through it ), or where you pull a lever and the floor drops out sending you falling for at least a minute until you hit the ground below. If you do somehow live, you then have to fight off the horde of undead sorcerers. Ah.. the glorious cruelty... especially the cliff in Stormreach heading to the Leaky Dinghy. Nothing like watching somebody "miss" the stairs and plundge to their death on the docks below. *happy sigh*

If only SE could implement that...

        a world without hate.
And I can picture us attacking that world,
        because they'd never expect it."

Man that sounded like me before I enhanced my computer (was running below minimum), lag made manuevering down those stairs rather difficult.

I'd like to give my thanks to those who replied. It's nice to have a barrage of welcoming hellos. I'll try my best to figure things out by myself first. I don't see the need to be helplessly led through everything I do. So if there is anything I can't figure out for myself, I'll be sure to ask about it. I hope to meet up with some of you in game (if the randomly selected server allows...). As of now, I won't be able to play for a few days (realized I still haven't gotten around to buying a DVD drive) so once I'm up and playing, I'll let everyone know!
