Well, a lot of the information on Alla was player submitted. Many of the images, guild recipies, etc. were posted by people who supported the site.

I mean, as much as I love Somepage, their info can (at times) be a bit sparse. I would often have to look up the same item or quest or NPC over at alla so I could read up on the comments made by other players. I think that's a pretty invaluable reasource.

As for what I think Alla is/was? I don't really know. I have always had a lot of issues with the way the site is laid out and run, but I was just acknowledging that many folks who have invested their time and money into the site probably have reason to feel slighted. Personally, it's no skin off my nose.

Lol, sorry Zion. That just shows Pai Pai's failure to master the English language. The problem is there's a way to get around rule #4 =P So you probably won't have an opportunity to do it in this thread.

I to am another Alla refugee. Kinda sucks because I had only signed up a month ago (even though I visited the forums for a long time before joining), but I guess like the rest of you I'd rather move than support IGE in any way, shape, or form. Oh well free avatar and smileys.

Hello!

I guess this is where us poor refuges say hi, so I thought I would!

I missed all the 'fun' yesterday as it was my Grandma's funeral. So I pop online today to have a nice relaxing read of random stuff on Alla and it's all gone insane. I've been trying to catch up on what happened and I think I've got most of it now.

I was only on Alla for the amount of people. I tend to use somepage and this site a bit for looking things up as well.

As long as we can get good guides to everything again, we won't lose anything really.

lol, i was allways under the impression alla was part of RMT.. all those ads and their reputation, not to mention that "virus" thing and other crap.. im surprised people still hung out there, i only go there to check on comments for items and mobs.. sometimes.

Yeah, the poster's comments various missions, items, and quests was helpful when somepage just kinda gave you a hint and kicked you out the door.

I'm beginning to realize when I get to work tomorrow that the "new posts" link is gonna be over 10 pages long. Yikes thats gonna be a lot to catch up on.

I'm unhappy with the whole situation, though I understand that business is business, and most of the time it is utterly indifferent things like this.

I've had to copy/paste tons of bookmarked guides into text documents for my own reference.

I don't know how I'll feel about this for a while yet. With the amount of Alla's familiar faces jumping ship, it seems only logical to setup over here, so I can continue to read what they have to say. But at the same time, I know that lots of people will not care / or know, and will remain at Alla, and I don't feel like coming down either side of the argument until I know how I feel about it. Sitting on the fence? Maybe.

Anyway, I hope us refugees won't cause the residents too much trouble.

You know, someone is going to have to contact Square Enix's community relations team and have allkhasellout removed from their premier community site page, considering their new ownership is very much not what SE needs to be affiliated with.

I was thinking similarly. Imma go on the assumption that SE doesn't know and should be told. I mainly lurked on Alla forums, but used their quest and item database when somepage failed me. As such, I don't think I can give a first hand account to SE of what's up (other than from what I read here, but that's second hand).

So, I proposed people from Alla drop a note to SE in their suggestion box. It's under the "Service and Support" link off the main PoL FFXI site. From there, go to their "Email Support" section, "Comments and Suggestions" (or "Other Help," it's unclear what category this falls under), then "Open mail form" and type in the issue. Include links, quotes, and other impotant details when you submit the comment.

With luck, SE will get enough comments and we'll see what happens.
