I had been with Alla for over two years when I switched today. A lot of the more respectable posters left because of the news. For now, Alla's gone. They still have a few people too ignorant or stubborn to switch because of their "good reputation" or karma there. But I don't think it'll last much longer with this news.

Brand extension. Right now they are only seen in the negative light of providing illegal RMT services in games that do not allow it. Anything that could change that perception, like running a premier MMO website could make them seem less and less evil to the sites users.

On top of that, it's like Coca-Cola owning and distributing other, seemingly competing brands of cola. People get what they want, some even thinking they aren't supporting a greedy American conglomerate, but all the profit still goes back to Coca-Cola. So if IGE can't convince everyone to buy gil/gold/whatever EQ uses, they can get money from them via subscriptions to the website. Some of them also think they aren't supporting IGE by using Alla.

I see your point, but it still seem to me like a drug cartel buying a newspaper company to try and show the "good side" of illegal drugs. I think most people have already made up their mind about RMT'ers, sellers and buyers alike. A new mmo? Maybe, if the majority of the population is new to mmo's and doesn't know all about it, but especially an established mmo with a ton of people who hate you and everything you stand for, I think there going to be fighting a losing battle. I hope so anyway.

It will last for a long time since it's database is quite good, I'll miss the 'Equipment by Job'. Almost enough to try and replicate it, but then I remember I'm lazy.

It's more of a question of will whatever lasts be worth anything given the type of people that will stay there have at best an apathetic attitude towards cheating.

This site is really about not yelling at each other. even if we do disagree its okay to get jeated but take it to PM's or at least offer an intelligent arguement.

Well I just signed up today and I'd just like to say that I wish I had known about this site a long time ago.

Recently I've been frustrated with Alla for several reasons and the fact that they were recently acquired by an RMT company was the last straw. As you can see I've decided to leave Alla although not 100% permanently I will be in the future. I haven't been posting there very often lately so it shouldn't be too difficult to disconnect myself from those forums.

So I hope to make my stay here a long and happy one, and don't worry I won't cause any trouble for you.

Where's he been btw? I hope its just finals and he hasn't gone and abandoned us.

I may still use the "Equipment by jobs" part of their database, but I'll be sure not to click on any advertisements and definately not get a paying account with them. One of those "all take and no give" relationships. Those are my favorite.
