I like playing FFXI i have charaters on Unicorn, Caitsith, and Cerbures. I work for disney and well tahts about it I look forward to getting to know you all. I also write fanfics and post em on fanfiction.net and my pen name is the same there as here

He looks a little more conventional now. Most people tend to mellow slightly with age.

Hey all. I was never very active on Alla (mostly trolled back there) but I was sad to see it go to the gil-sellers. I hope enough people will move here to turn these forums into a real community on par with what alla was. That said, let me say that I feel the actions of many of you are hurting those choices. When you go onto Alla and say IGE Suzors flee Alla!!! you only turn people off of the idea of joining another forum. What we should do in these posts is to speak about the problems IGE causes and why FFXIonline.com has the chance to be a better place. Now I doubt Alla will go under (unless IGE does something stupid, which it might) since the largeness of the community and depth of the info is so good.

I do think we can convince many Alla subscribers to drop thier subscriptions, if we speak logically and informatively. That is the most we can do against IGE now.

If anyone is able, you might consider organizing some volunteers and communicating with this or another FFXI site to improve to/above Alla's standards in terms of information. If we can get a large enough group of people to come here, it will cause issues with hosting BUT if will also make it possible for the sight to consider creating paid and free accounts like Alla did (if they can get enough volunteers to create a database to rival Alla's site).

Im Rambling so I will draw to a close, but basically this is what we should do.

1. Speak in an informed, logical and pursuasive manner on Alla about why IGE merger is a bad idea, and why they should look here.

2. Not create a new post for every person. One thread that stays away from Suxors I Hate Alla! style posts.

3. Offer to help create a database as friendly and informative as Alla's is.

4. Speak with FFXIonline about possibly setting up a donation option and a membership option should the volumn of traffic cause hosting issues.

5. Not sit and dispair at the destruction of one of FFXI's best, informative sites.

I'm glad someone recognizes this. You can already see the server creaking under the stress of the new traffic. Our number of visitors at any given time has tripled.

I wonder how PiNG intends to handle it.

Actually it would be best to just drop the topic and stop posting and submitting information to Alla. You can complain about the merger all you like, but it won't do anything other then create flame wars that will be modded into oblivion requiring you to make thread after thread to 'spread the word.' Not only that, but there's a good chance they wouldn't last that long since it seems most of the negative threads have been deleted leaving only the vocal supporters of the site.

If you want to move your guides and whatnot off Alla it seems that the wiki would be a good place to put them. Just don't do that if you're the controlling type.

In short just drop it now, the deal was covered probably on every major MMO forum, Slashdot had a posting on it and several Gaming news sites did as well, and none of it was positive. They tried to spin it in such a way that it seemed that IGE and Alla have nothing to do with each other but it didn't work. Continually posting on Alla isn't going to do anything constructive.

I agree, I've tried to argue my points over there, but no matter what you do, there's still some people who just can't be persuaded. Not to mention I'm tired of the members of both sides doing nothing but trading insults.

These forums already are a community, very different to what alla was, mostly due to the fact the admins here actually moderate the boards and have rules they stick too. It is different to alla, and I think is already well above par. It seems this board is attracting the cream of the crop from alla, so hopefully it will become even better. /welcome all you alla posters ^^

You can post in an informed, logical and persuasive way on alla, but don't stress if it quickly turns into an uninformed, illogical flame war, with the occasional BEWBS!! thrown in for effect. If you want to leave a message that you are leaving alla for good, change your sig.

Good luck. This isn't going to happen in the unmoderated chaos of alla.

The thing I really liked about alla was the comments with the quests/items in their database. That was a good setup, though the replies were sometimes less than friendly or informative, there was usually much less clutter than in the general forums.

Well its not like alla wasn't laggy as hell, this site seems to have an excellent connection. Pages load faster than alla for me even with all the graphics.

The community made that site useful and informative, not Alla itself. If you have made a useful contribution to Alla, and want to repost it here, please feel free. You might even get some useful replies ^^
