    Hello ffxionline.com,

    Im very very new to this forum/FFXI online. Ive read a few threads about the game mechanics and what its about. But now i come to you all who have experience in the game, for a little more information about the gameplay and whatnot.

    To start......i dont know what i should buy 1st....should i buy the game to start or just buy all 3 ( the game and the 2 expansions )?. That there is really what i need to know 1st so i dont go spendin money on things i dont need now. Ok now.....I know theres a grind and i dont mind that. i just want some good ole FF adventure and i want to play and have fun with other people who enjoy this game. Ive played FF for a long time... (before 7), but from what ive read it seems this is very different from the single player FF. A Friend of mine is trying to drag me into World of War Craft, but i really dislike the graphics/the feel that i got while playing the trial demo. Im Currently playing RF- Online...witch is a great game pvp wise but the grind is horrendous. I dont think people have yet to see that, that game will always be a continous, " kill this creature 20 times" or party and kill this ace mob 500 times to get half a level or 1 level. There are updates with nice guild stuff but behind all that the other planets are just other places to grind on. Anyway i dont want to go off to far into that so back to FFXI.
    I plan on being a black Mage. I like to deal damage, and that caught my intrest. At 1st i wanted to be a summoner but as i read up on it, it dawned on me that that class is not so good untill endgame ( witch is kind of a turnoff for me ). And i ran the Nvidia.coms cpu test thingy and it said that my comp should be able to play the game to its fullest. But then i downloaded the FFXI benchmark tester and with the lil bitty guys dancing around and the chocobos running around there where alot of hard frame drops ( 6800GTO, 3200+amd 1gigmem ect ect ). Im sure you guys get many people asking the, "will this run", question so if knowbody responds...ill understand. I dont really hear much about this game anymore since its release. All i hear about is WoW and thaz about it. so..to the ones who have played this game for a while......hopefully i will get some responces with some information because i want this game and i want to enjoy it. But i also want to know some of your views on what you think about the game, and what the online FF adventure is like.

    Re: Hello ffxionline.com

    well, you can buy all 3 together now in a pretty cheap package... however if you're really into saving money i would suggest putting off in buying CoP (as you wouldn't experience any of its added content until later). you will "experience" ZM once you get one job to level 30.

    the gameplay is quite slow (a LOT slower than WoW, since you've played it at least a little). there is actually quite a strong storyline - which is rare for MMO's. soloing is basically not an option (its possible, but not as efficient as having a party). possibly the best experience in this game is just building up a network of friends, join a social LS, etc etc (as it probably is with any other MMO). feel free to ask any other questions ^^

    i would suggest seeing if you can a friend or someone (maybe from this site) with a vanadiel buddy pass (which lets you d/l the game - no expansions - for free and have a month(?) trial).

      How would i find someone who would actually let me do that. .....That would be so great because i could use the trail to see if i want to go out and get the game. So....how would i go about doing this? because i dont want to make any one agry by askng them if i can use thier Vpass.

        There's like a 1.25% chance that you'll find someone who has an unused pass ><;

                heh, i meant the rules to requesting a buddy pass in the general discussions forum, but reading the forums rules aren't bad either

                Thanks Yyg!
