    Fansites, get a better server!

    This is not insulting the fansites, it's a plea.
    FFxiOnline is one of the absolute best ffxi fansites out there, but I have to say, what the hell is running your server? A 386 on dialup in mom's basement?
    The reason why gillseller-owned alla gets more visiters is because it's faster. That's it.
    There is absolutely no reason why your site should be this slow. The ammount of visitors you get pales in comparison to some sites, one of which I run, and they're fantastically fast.
    killingifrit also has this problem. I'm not going to wait 5 minutes for the forum to load. Do something about it. Change providers. There are plenty of hosting companies that offer near unlimited bandwidth for very cheap rates, and guarentee speeds.

    Perhaps I'll suggest a few.

    no, I do not work for these companies, I'm just begging you to do something about it.

    Also, I know there's maintinance going on. Yes, it's this slow all the time, and you know it.

      Less slow then KI, but still horribly slow, yes.

      And no, it's not my connection, I'm on 10MB premum $80 a month cable, my connection is probably faster then yours.

          I completely agree with your point on KI being uber slow.

          Alla is godly slow, to the point where I have to backpedal and refresh for the damned page to load.


          But FFXIonline slow?
          I have two questions for you.
          What are you smoking? & Can I have some?

          FFXIonline loads up in a split second for me.... so what are you bitching about?

            Same here everything comes up pretty quick for me as well.

                i'm on a T3 so no.

                and it's not slow either at home (5mbps cable). i'm curious, what would be your definition of fast?

                btw, if you look at the very bottom of the thread/page there is a marker that says how quickly the page was generated. 0.71011305 seconds is pretty fast to me so dunno what you're talking about.

                  I've very rarely had problems with the site being slow. Maybe once or twice a week.
                  I'm not going to wait 5 minutes for the forum to load.
                  I don't think anyone really cares if you do or not.

                    Loads nice and fast on my steam-powered DSL line.
                    Alla, on the other hand is ridiculously slow by comparison, I'm often left staring at a half-drawn screen while it ponders its next move. It frequently fails to manage to draw the page at all.

                      If you're taking 5 minutes to load, then you'd be the only one. might want to check your computer there.

                          I've never had any noticable lag or congestion when loading pages on this site. If there have been some they are hardly of note.

                            FFXIOnline is one of the fastest and most full-featured forums I've ever had the pleasure to visit. If you're having issues accessing it, perhaps there's something wrong with your ISP or computer; I've not heard of anyone else having this sort of problem.

                              takes me less then a second to load a page and thats while the servers are down(ffxi servers so more people on fansites)
