Re: Before locking up threads ...
/agrees with this post absolutely. I started checking Alla in January or so because a friend linked to an information post for COP missions... that was sadly followed by 6-7 pages of insults, name calling, chuck norris jokes (huh???????), and my most favorite pet peeve of ALLA is "you suck/you're lame" responses to any type of "I cant do this, how do I do it?" type questions.... /sigh. I seriously have NO COMPLAINTS about allakhazam, their database is a GODSEND, just that their forums and forumtiquette is 'nothing' compared to how ffxionline.com is run.
Now, don't mistake me, there's a fair share of trolling and weird comments on this forum as well. Why post a message just to say "man you're lame"..... I still don't understand when people do that, but I can thankfully say there is 5 names I can think off in this forum that do this, as opposed to pages and pages and pages of 'rate down pwnzors/you suck/you're lame' responses on Alla.
But if we're comparing all forums... I think I fear BG the most ; ; (sorry to BG fans. but I cannot take the callous way of talking and sarcasm in every single post and the total lack of 'niceness') but I realize that BG has its own style and their readers are perfectly happy with the freedom they have there, so I will not visit BG frequently, my choice.
So if you trulyyyyyyy dislike ffxionline.com's moderation method (which a lot of us are grateful for), perhaps it's best to find a forum that best fits your needs, as majority of us here do not wish to change how moderation is done here.
For the Jihad thread, I am Muslim and Jihad has a REALLY personal meaning in my life. Though I was not offended as I truly believe that others have the right to act/do as they wish as I have the right to react/act as I wish, I still felt that the Moderators should have mentioned the usage of that name which they did, kudos to that. My personal choice, I saw the name of the thread, read it on the first day it was posted to see why Jihad was used. Realized that it had nothing to do with any kind of Jihad in any way that I saw it and decided to no longer follow the thread.
Remember, you will always have the choice to do, not do, read, ignore or anything of a sort. I applaud some posters on this thread who spoke up and mention how they feel and thus giving a chance for the opposition to say what they think as well.
