  • Regarding a topic made in FFXI general

A topic was made on the FFXI general board questioning the practices of a certain party. After a few moments, I realized this topic was removed.

Now, without mentioning any names or causing any flames, I'd like to know why, instead of being moved here and edited to omit personal jabs, it was completely removed. The information discussed in it had no purpose of being deleted, other than its being off topic. A number of reasonable points were made discussing a "double standard" in a rational manner, but were deleted.

If there's a fair reason for this, i'll let it go. If there isn't, I'd like to know why it was deleted and not moved. I myself found it an interesting topic, and would have liked to explore it further without being stopped by someone.

    Thank you for your time.

I agree with you 100% percent Lasareth, and would like too see this matter resolved and/or discussed. I think we as the community of this board deserve some kind of explanation as to what exactly is going on.

I am assuming that you are talking about the thread flaming me. If you look now, I made a post here. ( here for non signed up members)

        That explains.

I'm aware of that, but I also know that it's far too easy to dismiss that topic creator as a troublemaker and call case closed, instead of addressing the issue which was brought up. Bringing something into the public forum allows the community to bring their input into what has transpired, rather than letting it go and having people forget.

I'm not certain of the actual bases for warnings and all, so maybe that can be cleared up now. This is indeed a privately owned and operated forum, and can have its own set of rules. Now, what we'd like to know is--are these rules subjective to whether a person has a higher status or not?

I'm fully aware that this answer can go either way without being "wrong" in any sense of the word--but knowing whether or not the double standard exists will allow users to make a more free choice as to whether they wish to continue posting here or not.

Okay, I will settle this once and for all. I will just tell you the situation, and it will show you.

No, super moderators are not excempted for the rules that FFXIOnline has in place for it's members, if anything they are more rules, since they need to act 'professional.'

I have been rather busy lately, taking some time off from FFXIonline.com. The thread a closed and removed was a 'hack' by FFXIOnline.com, and we at FFXIOnline.com do not support hacks. So When the post was reported to me I followed the normal procedures. When the 'anti-lieb39' thread was created I saw that FFXIOnline.com is acting rather loosely on the character hacks, and learned. However, I removed that thread since it was 99% flaming towards myself. From now on I understand (as well as all the other staff members) that we are not supporting hacks, but we will let those hacks be talked about, although we won't support it offically. Only when we get a compliant from Square will we begin to close threads and such.

And that is why I closed that thread.
