Idea to speed up forums.

Would it be possible to keep people who are not registered and logged in from even accessing the fourms?
This would greatly increase loading times of the forums for registered users. I've noticed that, on average, the number of guests accessing the forums exceeds that of logged in users.

Seems like a good idea but it wouldn't be fair for people who want to see what they are signing up for first.
