  • Just bought the game!

    I've been deciding for a long time whether to buy the game or not, and I finally bought it. I copped it from Steam, and installing it now. I wanted to know, which server has the most peeps, and a lot of new players?

    I don't think they're really congregating on any one server. Folks tell them server choice doesn't really matter so they scatter to the four winds. From what I've gleaned from other posts on various forums over the last few months my own server, Midgardsormr, seems to be somewhere in the middle. We hover around 1000-1100 but I've seen it spike as high as 1500 a few nights.

    The only other thing is that I suspect Fairy has a lower population, I've seen a few people complain about it.
    Server: Midgardsormr -> Quetzalcoatl -> Valefor
    Occupation: Reckless Red Mage
    Name: Drjones
    Blog: Mediocre Mage

      My intuitions says the amount of economic activities should be a good gauge of how 'lively' a World is. This site captures the economic transactions done through the Jeuno (i.e. main) auction house: Database - FFXIAH.com

      I wouldn't put as much stock in the "number of active characters," though, since that depends partially on how trendy is the use of Jeuno mules for AH on a particular World. (For example, I would count as two 'characters' for that purpose, since both my main character and a storage character regularly use the Jeuno AH, yet I know quite a few people who do not have a Jeuno mule.)

      In any case, who you play with matters far more than which World you land your character on; just pick a server with a name you like. Then, have fun, meet people, and make some friends.
      Bamboo shadows sweep the stars,
      yet not a mote of dust is stirred;
      Moonlight pierces the depths of the pond,
      leaving no trace in the water.
