I have a small backstory for my character, in case I ever need it. But to date, I've yet to meet a single person in the game who roleplays...or even types correctly, for that matter.

Maybe it's just my server?

Evion's parents were a male Elvaan, Elios, and a female Hume, Salandy. Elios was a renound ranger that traveled the world of Van'Adiel. One day in the fields outside of Bastok, he met a young female hume working on her Beastmastery. Both having a great love for the free-living of the outdoors, they quickly fell in love. They primarily lived in the outskirts of Sand'Oria and traveled to Bastok once in a while. One day, they left Evion with Salandy's mine-worker brother in Bastok, Goyf. Goyf lived with his Galka friend named Oros just outside of the Bastok Mines. Sadly, Elios and Salandy never returned for their son and Evion was to be raised by his uncle and friend. It is feared that they were caught in the middle of a battle and lost their lives, but no one knows for sure. Evion was pushed by Goyf and Oros to become a miner like them. However, he enjoyed playing with both white and black magic. Having a rough miner outside with a yearning for magic learning on the inside, he quickly became a RDM starting his adventure in Bastok...

Unfortunately, that's FFXI for you; RPers take some digging to find, and people who can actually type take some patience to find (but are often a good place to start looking for RPers once you meet them). Attitudes towards RP vary by server; on Midgardsormr, we typically RP in /say and almost no one cares. (Heck, we even attracted one of our core players that way!) -- Pteryx
