  • EU, NA, JP Server

Hello, everyone, this would be me "debut".
Basically, i want to ask which server has the most European, Japanese and North American players playing on it. I mean three different servers. Im asking because, i switched to FF to "deepen my understanding of Japanese language", but at the same time im European, so to be able to effectively party, (since its Paris time here where i am) i would like to be able to play with EU players, at least to be able to party up with them sometimes, as i heard FF doesn't really allow soloing.
So please tell me which servers are the most EU and JP populated.
    Thank You very much.

The distribution of players is fairly even since you couldn't choose your server for the first 5 years of the game.

My understanding is that the EU community is the smallest of the three groups. JP and NA are fairly even in size on my srever (Ifrit) and there isn't much hostility between them. However, you're less likely to get invited to a JP party in NA time and vice versa from my experience. However, if you can speak a little Japanese you might fair better than myself if you mention that in your /search comment.

As far as EU on Ifrit, I know of one major EU endgame shell, and a number of social shells that are EU based. Though the majority of EU players I know join NA or JP shells since there are more established LS that are NA and JP.

Thank You. Well endgame linkshell is probably as distant from me as Jerusalem atm. So i probably shouldn't really worry about it. But on the other hand, i would love to speak with folks. Well i mean im in a relatively small American community atm, but when im on, they're pretty much completely inactive, usually like 3-5 players on. Not that i mind it so much... And i miss the rivalry between the Norwegians, Swedish and the Dutch :D Nah. But its good to hear that American and Japanese people get along well.

Depending on your level and how many people you've met might explain your current LS. Many LSs are just started by like a group of 2 or 3 people. They'll give pearls to anyone without considering how that person will effect a shell. It grows too large without the support needed to run an LS (especially one that does anything but social chit chat such as Missions and events).

A lot of the people are in the shell just to get something from it (be it AF, Missions Progression, or Gil) and will drive off members that try to avoid having to say no to handouts and such. Friends of mine try to start up socials, but most times it just doesn't work. There are several really good establish social LSs out there; just a matter of bumping into a person that's in one and that you both get along.

Endgame shells in my experience are social as well. It's not all work and not play like some believe them to be. They, I believe, maintain themselves better since everyone's on more equal ground. All have a 75 jobs, do things together, and know how each other plays. So don't be overly concerned if you have trouble finding a stable social for awhile, it's just the fact that not many exist (and have the longevity of endgame shells)

I'd also like to say that you don't also necessarily need to go for an EU shell, just look for a more active shell. I'm in two LSes atm, one of which is really active early morning/afternoon, while the other one is much more evening/night oriented. You can even find the odd US shell whose main timeframe is that of JP primetime =D. Just keep on the lookout, and I'm sure you'll find the right shell for you.

Just about every server in the game has a decent Japanese and NA population, so you're covered there.

As far as EU goes, I really have to say that Ramuh is the server to join. We have several LARGE social linkshells devoted to Europeans in general, many linkshells devoted to particular languages (French & French-Canadien, Spanish, Irish/Scottish, and possibly even Polish and German), and a few endgame linkshells like Pixies that are mostly EU playtime.

                Re: EU, NA, JP Server

I must say I feel quite tempted to return again (for the second time), but I'm worried about my time zone as well. Being European was always a huge pain in the ass as people just weren't on when I was on.

Back when I used to play on Midgard, the EU population was scattered across NA shells with the exception being one end game LS that was obviously not easy to get into. It seemed like the EU population in general was quite abysmal as well considering there was always a huge drop in population between the JP and NA prime times.

What kind of transfer possibilities are there nowadays? I guess I'd try transferring to Ramuh if I could.

I'll note you may have some difficulties chatting with people in Japanese unless you install the JP Pol client. I've posted some info about this elsewhere.

                    Re: EU, NA, JP Server

I know Bahamut has a fairly large Eu population, with a few social shells, and one very large endgame shell (closed apps atm, we have too many). Also, there is a HUGE japanese population on Bahamut - though, they aren't the most friendly. There is a lot of jp only feeling on Bahamut.
