Private Servers?

Hey! I'm returning to the game & I was curious if anyone knew of any private servers. Its been awhile since I last looked around for one & a RL friend told me that he knew of one but didn't remember the forum. I'm hoping for some progress!
The idea interests me, it'd be fun I imagine. I'm not that dweeb looking for a simple free ride. A poke in the right direction would be helpful.

I hope this isn't banned topic material, I couldn't find any rules.

it would be extremly hard to make a private server since the game runs of POL, if you can create your own pol to support FFXI then you gotta be 1 clever fker !

but anyways ive seen none, and whats the point in playing a FFXI private server, less community, would be boring. i know it would be free... but stil... and aint they illigal ? unless you have SE permission, and i doubt they would let you create the game =)
