  • World Transfer - The Aftermath

A while back we had a thread about server information, kinda like a guide to help people decide where to go.

So now I'm doing a little research on how the server migration program has affected server populations. Has your server been irrevocably changed by people migrating or leaving? Have you changed the server you moved to?

Bahamut is noticeably busier. The lag is getting worse! We have had a lot of people transfer over. Hasn't affected the economy noticeably - it's pretty much as it was.

Re: World Transfer - The Aftermath

Let's see here.. how has world transfer affected Ramuh..

Well, a lot of people have left. Spread out to all different servers from what I can tell. And it's all across different levels of game experience. We've had newer people leaving to join their friends, and legacy players leaving to get away from the BS that goes on here in the HNM scene. It seems, at least to me, that things have calmed down a bit. Then again, it might be because I have all the serious idiots on blacklist.

We've also had quite a few new folks come over. My HNM linkshell got 3 people from Lakshmi, who then went back and said they would be returning with a bunch more friends. Some people have brought over their mules, particularly some of the long-time players.

Personally, I don't know if I'm quite looking to move to another server at the moment. Actually, I'm planing to take a break from the game for a little while and concentrate on some RL stuff (finances, setting up volunteer gigs for next year's election, etc.) so I'll decide later what kind of move I'm gonna make.

Re: World Transfer - The Aftermath

I would like to see SE give some very specific information on this in the next census.

Total FFXI population, and population per server, how much of that population is active within the past month.

How many people left and joined each server, and when.

And also highest levels of people that transfered, if possible.

Our ls alone has seen nearly a dozen people transfer....

Re: World Transfer - The Aftermath

My LS has picked up several members from other servers. World Transfers really don't mean much for non-endgamers, since the environment on most every server is about the same (inflation levels might be a little different, but that's a short-term effect).

At endgame is where you might see major differences, as people end up flocking to servers where they think they can have a better shot at stuff they want (lol), or can play with people they've heard of online.

Agreed. We got a lot of EU players looking for a shell that doesn't only do Dynamis, or low level endgame stuff (ie endless sky). We got ones looking for something more event based.

Re: World Transfer - The Aftermath

I moved to Odin and haven't really even cared to start looking for an endgame shell. I went from being a sack in a sky shell to being a member of a "sky shell" that basically wanted to spread out into everything and take over my life, passing off little altruisms like "RL > Game" and then chastising people for not showing up to an HNM camp.

Plus some notable friends were quitting on Titan and I've made a lot of friends on Odin through the Limit Break Radio forums in the last year. So I'm just doing little things and Nyzul Isle and maybe Limbus a little later.

Its pretty refreshing to not have Sky, Dynamis, Limbus and Sea hanging over your head. Sky was a chore enough. Dynamis has nothing I want for my jobs save for BST and RNG and BST isn't there yet. Limbus is just funds, really, I can't find much of anything for Kitten I need from that after Hunter's Gloves +1.

I made sure to steal from five different LS banks before hopping over ;p

Re: World Transfer - The Aftermath

OMG: I saw someone named OMGBBQ (I think) on Asura. I said "Hey Man! What's up?!" He was like "Uh, Do I know you?" Then I was like "Uh, I guess not...". Anyway, back to the topic: I really hope to see more posts on this thread, because I really want to leave Asura. There are NO pts in the dunes from lv 10-16 on Asura! Also, xp pts in Quiffim and Kazam are scarce. It's almost faster to solo. I want to move to a more populated, yet not overpopulated server. Suggestions?

Re: World Transfer - The Aftermath

Valefor pretty much stayed static in regards to overall population and economy.

Things actually got better because we lost a lot of members of one of the shadier linkshells on the server. They all banded together on one server from what I heard. Our loss is our gain on that one.

One of the other major HNM shells lost their shell holder and a few sacks to another server. They rebuilt and seem to be doing ok though.

I've noticed a fair amount of new people coming in as well. My dynamis shell has four or five server transfers in it now.
