  • A common tale of late

    Hi there!

I was once a silver haired Taru on Cerberus, wandering around doing various adventuring things, but due to financial constraints, lack of time and well... life, I was forced to send my Taru back to Windhurst and wave goodbye to Vana'diel for good.

    Or so I thought.....

You see, there's been something bugging me for the past few months. It's like a splinter in my mind. Playing FFXII did'nt help this and soon the answer became clear.

Long story short, I'm coming back to FFXI. But when the time comes to return all my original characters will have been deleted, which is actually quite exiting as I get to start again anew. Having kept tabs on Vana'diel affairs I've noticed you can now pick your own server at character creation, so I'm here to ask a question which I've noted has become quite common on these forums:

Can anyone recommend a good server?

Obviously an LS will be a thing to focus on once I'm settled back into things, but this time around I think I'll be sticking around a lot longer. I never did get to 75... or see Aht Urghan... so I think I'll have to remedy that on my return. Thanks for your time!

your characters might still exist, unless you actually deleted them. Deactivated content IDs are rarely deleted, even characters erased with "Delete Character" occasionally linger for a little while- though you'd have to call POL for that.

a server is entirely up to you, they're a lot of the same. I'd try to find someone you know who plays and join that server. Personally, if I were to start over, i'd go to whatever server Murphie is on, he's a great guy, not to mention he's online even more than I am so he can help you whenever >_>

Actually, Murphie isn't on that much. I often log on, and he isn't online yet, and he will log before me.

Bahamut is the server btw. It isn't a bad server - economy is about the same as anywhere.

well, i'm saying online in general. As in, the dude's got free time. Even if he's on FFXIonline and not FFXI Online :p

I mean, I have free time too, but I don't have a 75RDM, plus I don't play nice with elvaan.

          I'm online all the time because I work online. ><; But yeah, I don't mind helping/answering questions/whatever.

Thanks guys. Looks like April 1st I'll be making Redlac of Bahamut. ^^ Think I'll be a Hume this time around. Mmm, average. Again, thanks for all your help!

Well, server jumping is in the works according to SE, so despite the fact that you'll never know when it'll happen, in the future you should be able to take the character that you may already have and jump between servers as you like. If I were you, I'd see if my old dudes had just been puttering around the house while you were gone.

Yeah, oddly enough, when I got feba back, he was in the middle of aht urhgan. Makes me wonder what the hell he was doing that whole time.

Right now i'm imagining a tarutaru passed out at the fountain drooling... and of course, everyone just walks by and ignores him >_>

Or.... He was commissioned by STFU for some undercover Gilseller sting operations. If I was STFU that's what I'd do. Take established, socialized characters and use them to hunt GS.
