    Returning to FFXI on a New Account

    (( I used to play FFXI a while back but followed friends over to World of Warcraft. I enjoy World of Warcraft a lot but miss Final Fantasy XI a lot. I came back once, but came back to a bad vibe and eventually left again out of boredom and lack of fun.

    I'm going to be starting a new character, new account, new server, everything and I had a few questions to ask so that I might find a decent server and a decent group of people that can help me along the way. Obviously not play for me, but help getting back into the game and whatnot. I'm also in search of a Role-playing group. I don't prefer a political/war roleplay or a group that is extremely racist against other players like with slander and demoralizing.

    Basically I'm looking for a group that isn't completely uptight about Role-play but an environment where I won't see "ROFLCOPTER LOAL!!11!eleven!" every 4-7 seconds... I also don't want to be in a Linkshell where the highest player is Lv8 ... I know level and maturity/roleplay level has nothing to do with each other, but when you're limited to one area of roleplay it gets boring really fast.

    SYNOPSIS: I'm looking for suggestions for a Linkshell on any Server with casual-moderate roleplay with friendly people that know how to play the game.

    P.S. - If it does turn to the point that Job and/or Race choice is a deciding factor for a Linkshell, I plan to be either a Female Hume or a Mithra Red Mage. I'll probably level my Black Mage and White Mage to 37 first for the whole Lv75 subjob deal. ... If that's the level cap anymore. I've been gone for a long time ... Hehe. ))

    I haven't seen much roleplayers myself, no comments.

    I'm not sure what happenned when you returned once?
    The game by it's core is still the same. If you got bored once, I don't know if you'll enjoy it much this time around.

    There are a lot of mature players. I'm sure you'll find them no problem. Best of luck to your journey back to Vanadiel.

    Race is never a factor to join any linkshells.
    Jobs may be is, but only for end-game linkshells.

      I know there are a good many roleplayers out there, I just don't know where to find them here in Final Fantasy XI.

      When I returned a long time ago, I didn't have anyone to play with and the old friends I once had before became elitests and didn't pay me any attention what-so-ever because I was 7 levels below Lv75... Even when I finally hit Lv75 on my Bard, I was still ignored because of no experience being Lv75.

      So it wasn't the game that was boring, really it was the lack of good people to play with.

      And yes, race is a factor for joining a Linkshell if its say... a Galkan only Linkshell or an Elvaan only Linkshell for roleplaying purposes.

      And job can be more than just end-game. What if its a Linkshell for just Rangers or Red Mages? Obviously with the subjob system, it would be almost impossible to be one class all the time, but your main class would have to be a certain class.


      I'm not totally sure how roleplaying groups in FFXI work with their requirements but I know back in World of Warcraft, Race and/or Class was a deciding factor for some. I know one guild didn't allow Warlocks and another only allowed Gnomes and Dwarves. And a few Horde guilds forbid any Blood Elves from joining.

        wow 75 brd is really a great job to have. You could look for new linkshell with your BRD and meet new friends if you can still revive your account. Just my 2c.

          Aye, but I want to play a different race besides TaruTaru and I don't really want to be invited on the fact that I'm Bard. I actually only created the Bard for a static party. I always wanted to be the Red Mage of the party... but someone already picked that. Luck have it, the guy that was our Red Mage ditched us around 67 or 69... I can't remember... Somewhere around there.

          Anyways, it is a great idea and I considered it, but I don't want to be on Cait Sith... At least not as my Bard at anyrate. Its a good job and all, but I don't particularly like it.
