  • Aussie Server

Hi I just ordered the game (back order) and i was wondering if there was a server that is known for having alot of aussie players on it, maily coz the time difference between us and aussie makes it hard to play as a group and that sort of stuff

I doubt there's a server with many Australian players, but there are some on every server. The problem you might run into is that you're in the same general time slot as Japan, so you're going to have to wade through a lot of players to find fellow Aussies (or Kiwis for that matter).

I don't know of any other Aussies on my server, but since I speak Japanese I tend to make efforts only to socialise with Japanese players since they're the dominant majority during Aussie play hours, but there must be a few out there somewhere.

I certainly only know of a very small handful on my server...

I don't know more than 5 Australians on Ramuh, but there's a small community on each server, I suppose. You've just got to put yourself out there and, eventually, you'll find some people ^^ The Xbox 360 did well here, so there'll probably be some people that picked up FFXI for it.

You will have to be prepared to either play in the morning/afternoon, or party with Japanese players. I suggest, during the night hours, taking up a craft, or just go out and farm for items if you're uncomfortable playing with people in another language.

The hardest part for me is finding an LS that doesn't have events at 5am. Still haven't managed >< though it is easy to party with Japanese players once you are used to autotranslate, and most have a good knowledge of English as well. I'd say at least half of my parties have been 5/6 Japanese and then me, and it works fine.

I only know of two or three aussies on my server, and I think one of them died.

Your best bet would be looking for english speaking chinese players (sadly, going to be mostly RMT) or japanese players, and just trying to get along.

                  Re: Aussie Server

I have a ton of Aussies in my LS on Ifrit, you should join us! Hehe

I spent about 6mths on the game and never met one Australian player, but once I met the first, they all popped out of the woodwork. From the top of my head i have six or seven, maybe a few more that live in Aus, but a bunch of UK and USA and JP players that are on during our prime time.

If you end up joining Ifrit or move to it, feel free to look me up, my LS is called TheRisingSun~ you're welcome to join and meet some nice helpful people.

                  Welcome to Vana'diel!

I'm an australian but I only just started the game yesterday ^_^
Well I speak japanese and I want to find a good server. One with good population of people around that time zone so i guess that means Japanese. Would be nice if the people were helpful to newbies too ^人^
                    Any suggestions?
                    Thanks

                      Re: Aussie Server

Hmm. Hopefully no mod kills me for this, but if your Japanese is fluent, it's worth it to get Windower if you don't have JP version of FFXI. It's the only way I know of to type Japanese characters into the game when you don't have the JP client. =/

Being able to communicate in Japanese will open a lot of doors for you, especially if you understand how Japanese should behave toward one another.

p.s. I was actually offered membership to a Japanese end-game/HNM LS (I think?) based solely on the fact I can understand a little Japanese and have always been friendly toward a this one JP player (whom I met in a party like two years ago)! o_O; Surprised the heck out of me... I wonder if JP HNM LS's are a lot more relaxed than NA ones...
