  • Linkshell transformation

My current linkshell is falling apart. We are a darned good social ls, but we tried to make ourselves an endgame linkshell, but the ls fell apart.

How does a LS transform successfuly from social to endgame? or do people just bolt their social linkshells and form an endgame linkshell.

Leadership, structure, and communication. I think these 3 things are the most important. One thing you might want to do is look at people's sigs. They often have links to the website of their LS. Go there and see how they structure things. Ask other HNM LS's on your server how the decide things.

Another thing that is important is to make sure you don't have too many "leaders". Their must be more than one because you can't always be on. If you have a schedule of some sort when your on and not on, you could find someone you trust to fill in for the times you aren't around. Always make sure that the person(s) you appoint in your stay know to follow the same path you do. If you approve of A but don't approve of B then make sure your "lieutenants" follow that also. They don't have to believe it but there needs to be consistancy in the leadership.

Have planned events and stick to your plans. No not everyone will be able to participate but if you have 2 lieutenants that can organize things at other times, then eventually others will be able to participate. Set goals for your LS, getting genkais done, doing CoP missions, Zilart missions, Rank missions, etc. Don't go straight for the gold, start small and work your way up. Having your members work together will strenghten your bond. Take group pics after successful runs. Post congrats, pics, etc up on the forums! Make everyone feel a part of the team. Encourage lower lvl members. Helping them form a static within the LS is also fun.

Communication is the one thing that can bring it all down. If you don't have communication, you just can't get it off the ground. But in order to have structure work, you need to communicate. At the very least your LS should have a forum to post news, requests, exciting events, planned events, etc. And make it a requirement for everyone to sign up on the forums. Then in the lsmes you can post things like "Made changes to such and such hunt check forums". If people don't know about things and its clearly posted on the forums then they have no one to blame but themselves. This does give the leader(s) more work since they should check in every day and make sure everything is up to date.

What your doing is not an easy road at all. It's going to take time, trust, and lots of hard work. Good luck!

Some people make me sick to my stomach. The people who want to diss their old LS for a big-name, or even a shitty, HNM LS. They can more about gear than they do people.

The people who I am refering to know who they are and all I can say is: Fuck you.

Very, very well-said. Anyone interested in being part of (or leading) a successful HNMLS, read this over. Everything TheGrandMom mentioned is pretty much key to success. Just to add a few things...one of the biggest problems I see with people looking to do HNM is that they believe it's a goldmine of wealth and rare items just waiting to be tapped, and they want their cut, right now. That's just not how it works. Your members have to be focused on making the LS stronger as a whole, not getting all the stuff they want personally. This means doing raids that might not benefit you, helping other members with difficult quests (hakutaku, BQ etc.) and stuff like that. If everyone is only looking out for themselves, the ls will fail sooner or later.

Also, working your way up the HNM ladder is a learning process (I'm assuming the goal here is to eventually fight all HNM and not just camp Roc and Serket every day...anyone can do that). Not everyone is going to beat Fafnir, or King Behemoth, or Kirin the 1st time they try. Your members have to be willing to spend money and lose xp to experiment, figure out what works and what doesn't, and get better. Again, this is putting your personal interests aside to benefit the ls working towards a common goal. I've been in fights where I died 7+ times in the space of a few hours, lost god knows how much xp, and spent probably close to 100k in items to get the win, all for drops that have no value or relevance to me whatsoever. And I had a blast doing it. If stuff like this doesn't interest you, maybe you should think twice about doing HNM. Or stick to fighting Roc

Just my story, when the cap was 65 I was still with my pretty huge casual LS (no NA version yet so all of us were importers). I heard that behemoth was about to pop and wanted to see it so much so i asked the LS if they want to take a look too. At the end we gathered up to 15 members all 65 heading to Behemoth's spawn.

With the amount of ppl we could easily kill it so why not? Being able to tag my hands at these high-end mobs had been my dream for awhile. I mean, who the hell max their level and have never think of battle Behemoth at least once? It's the monster appears in all FF and I'd gladly die just to try it once. I suggested we pull the behemoth if it pop, and guess the replies I got

"if you pull it i'll warp back"
            "We're here to look"
            "I don't wanna die"

I got sick beyond any explanation.... Don't they even care to do it for fun... ? I think you can guess, I joined up with japanese HNM LS and the ppl in my old LS immediately hate me for just joining. HNM LS are HNM exclusive but they never prevent me from equipting my other LS. I see no problem being in 1 at all. It's just the attitude. Attitude that makes enemies -_-'

I was very happy in the HNM LS. Altho i couldn't 100% communicate with them, spending over 2 years hunting with them just made us become close friends. The day I quit FFXI I really cried when I said goodbye to my beloved LS. I was surprised at myself -.-

Its a lot worst when your LS is trying to become a HNM/sky LS. Like a slap to the face.
