  • I'm pretty disappointed with COP...

I really feel that this expansion pack is one of the biggiest disappointments. New areas are fine, and I'm sure all the missions are pretty cool, but I still haven't even completed all the missions from the original FFXI! Not even touched zilart ones yet.

This expansion really catered to the high lv people only I think, and that's just outragous. I was hoping that something signifigant would be added. Place or something that would affect the way the world works, but it hasn't. One thing I wanted more than anything, was well, a new country. Not just a new small town, like kazham, and rabao were for zilart, but a new place that help the importance of jeuno.

Something like that, because the game desperately needs it. I'm sure most servers have the same problem, but jeuno has become lag central, because 50% of the population at least is always there. On pc, and ps2, all you end up getting is a lag infested, unenjoyable place to be, where the place is so crowded to walk through, that it's a constant mospit.

I haven't checked out too many of the new areas yet, cause I haven't really needed to, but so far they haven't been too important to go to. And alot of em I'm still afraid to go to, cause I bit there's alot of those places with only Incredibily tough++ mobs just waiting to attack me on sight.

I just seriously can't believe no new jobs were added. I thought square-enix might've had some big surprise up their sleeve with this expansion, but nope, not really...everything they revealed before it came out, was all that we got. There was no hidden surprised. Plus, there's even a lack of new armor I think. Sure there's some, but hardly enough! They need to make some lv10-30 new armor already! Yes, they made the lv29 armor, but that's it? Overall, huge disappointment, i could've not bought it, and it would've made no impact on my gameplay.

Sad that you feel that way ockman .. as for a new country ....Tavnazia..
    Towns..go to tavnazia..bibiki etc.
Dont be afraid to travel. Ive died pletny of times in the new areas. its called risk reward.. and fun to.
Final fantasyXI doesnt need new jobs , and there are tons of new items and gear. You just have to go look for them.. Dont fall into that NA trap of needing to get everything on Day one.

And no the expansion is not catered to high levels . its catered to people like me who like a good story.
The missions provide that. and what exactly would a new job do. it wont make folks happeir. It was just increase the level up only mentality of many people in this game.
CoP missions start at level 30 and go to cap60 rightnow.
Chapter 1-4 are levels 30-50 so you are high enough to do them. so hop to it trooper.

      @ockman
on the contrary, chains or promathia serves lower levels by far
to my knowledge, most of the PM are capped, such as the Promyvion-XXXX BCNM's @ LV30

also, i believe that Tavnazian region has an area where you can set HP, attend AH, visit moogle, etc. however, this may be false and i have no concrete proof of it.

the single problem with the expansion was that it was released too early, in my humble opinion. it was released 'prematurely' in reaction to the releases of new MMORPG's like WoW & EQ2. both of these games claimed a substantial amount of players from FFXI until they announced COP which would in turn gain half a million more EU/NA players.

they could have developed a new support job if the Dev. Team was alloted more time. unfortunately, competition restricted their deadline and COP was released. in terms of business, it was a smart move and i think SEI had done as much as they can to satisfy both the level 75+++'s as well as the newer players.

      personally, i enjoy COP because i am satisfied with the new BGM's as opposed to the previous ones. seemed more ffxi-esque which was probably brought upon by popular demand and distastefulness of the LOTR-type music of san'doria ; ;

overall, i think COP is worth 2/3 the money it's selling for but im not dissapointed with the product because they addressed many of the player's compliances, such as new mob types.

just try to play thoroughly into the Promathia plot and maybe you will change your mind about the expansion.

ps. i do not work for square-enix.

i said a new COUNTRY, not a new town...those are small towns, they are still not as important as jeuno...jeuno is still the center of the world where everyone meets as far as the game is concerned. there is really little other reason to go to any other city because everything connects to jeuno. That's what i wanted, another central location. a place where all airships went...someplace important...these small towns are not important ><

A Central location is decided by the players, not SE. They would have to practically place a new town right next to Jeuno to do what you ask. Jeuno just happens to be in the most convenient place. And since there's so many players there, it's much easier to to find people there for AF, Genkai, Coffer, or Skill Up parties. Not enough people make use of the search comments to not need to shouot in Jeuno. It's all about ease of conveniance. Jeuno just happens to be that place for players, and I doubt it will change anytime soon.

COP is fine as it is, the new areas are nicely designed and relates to the FFXI storyline - particularly Tavnazia from the intro and its relevance to the history of Vanadiel. In terms of narrative, Promv is just as good as Jiraat. In terms of depth and details, Prom is definitely the most developed so far. The new PM NPC's actually have character and personality, namely Prishe and the 3 Tavnazian tarus, in fact, they are far more interesting and have more personality than most PC's, especially on Ragnarok.

So far, I pretty disapoited in CoP. No new jobs, no new abilities, barely any new equipment. The missions would be fun, if they weren't so difficult. I wanted to play with my LS mates with CoP and only a small portion of the people have finished Promyvion. The missions are too damn hard and require too much organization. Some players have to start level'ing new jobs cause theirs is too weak for the BC. People have to waste their gils into endless supplies of medicine and low level equipment to finish each missions.

The missions are not that hard, truth be told. The setups are not as strict as originally advertised and the crags do not require a full alliance to get through (actually, it's harder to get everyone through the teleporters with a full alliance than with just 6 or 12 people since Strays don't sleep long). A good friend of mine finished off the Holla NM in a very short time in a 3x RNG, 2x WAR/NIN and 1 WHM setup, so the myths of it requiring at least one BLM or SMN are simply not true.

The first 90% of the NM's HP is very easy to accomplish anyhow, so the main strategy should be related to how fast your PT can get through the last 10%. Whether it be with WS, Astral Flows, EES, HFists, Icarus Wings, Meikyos or whatever else you can come up with, with a couple of damage dealing melees/mages popping 2 hours, that last 10% can be gone in a matter of moments.

Anyhow, I'm pleased with the expansion so far. The new areas are very beautiful and I'm having fun exploring them and completing the new quests. The missions are fun as well, and I like that they're challenging.^^
                  There will be cake.

SEX stated publicly this was an expansion catered to low level players, but I wholeheartedly disagree. It seems more catered to hardcore players, the lv-capped BC's are just a clever ploy to get low level and less extreme players to buy the expansion. So to those people expecting it to be all easy and haven't even finished the Jirat storyline, I can see why it would be dissapointing. I would blame the company for their underhanded marketing tactics.

Its too early to make judgement from something we haven't seen fully of. CoP endgame content has yet to come so I'm keen to see what new HNMs/gear they'll add. Remember Zilart's endgame wasn't evident on day one of release.

                        Patience.

PS: I must say that the promyv missions and other level capped stuff fail to grab my attention. I'm hoping for more job abilities and refined game balancing.
I really should thank you for it afterall it was your life that taught me the purpose of all life.....Purpose of life, is to end.

catered to high level people? hello level 30 cap areas? zones simply capped at 40? how is that catering to high levels?

as for jobs, square needs to fix jobs, you as a samurai should know this, you get all of four active abilities: 2hr, warding circle, third eye, and meditate...

If by "hardcore players" you mean those who enjoy a challenge, I completely agree--it's clear that these missions are meant for people who want to challenge themselves.

I'm not really sure how the expansion has been marketed, but if people were under the impression that low level cap meant easy, it's obvious that's not the case.

The thing I do like about this expansion is that I've been able to go on missions with friends both far below and far above my main job's level. With the exception of BCs, that's rarely been the case, and having been one of the higher level people in my LS, it was a lot of fun being able to play on the same field as those friends.
