Maybe the effect you dispelled is the thing that makes them take less damage from swords and such. I heard somewhere casting Banish can make undead take normal damage from those types of weapons for a few hits, maybe dispelling this 'undead effect' does the same thing.

I had a similar thing happen to me in Onzozo during a level up party. Our red mage casted blizzard II and the message popped up "Resist! Redmagewhatever starts casting Blizzard II on Torama". I told the group of the odd message and asked them all to check, and sure enough it was that way in everyone's log. I then checked the damage on that blizz II and it hit for like 42 damage. So it was neither 0 damage, or resisted (like during SL fight I've seen an elemental spell resisted). We continued trying to replicate the situation, and it never happened again. We shrugged it off as a "glitch" but it's good to see that similar things have happened to other players.

PLD get an ability called cover that lets them take damage for another player if that played gets behind the PLD. What you saw was a PLD actually using it correctly lol. Most pld don't even macro /p Using cover! Get behind me! when they are using it so the mage or whoever is being covered panics and runs wasting a perfectly good ability..../offtopic

check my level please ;_; I know what cover does. I have been covered many times. But, no, paladins don't learn cover at level 30. Also, I wasn't a paladin when it happened. In fact, no one in the party was a paladin. I wasn't behind anyone, and the beast was quite far from me.

when cover works, it should say: Cover! [PLD] takes ## damage.

not: Cover! [SMN] starts casting Cure II on [tank]!

Anything that gets resisted due to a Job Traits will get the Resist! message. I've seen bard mobs Resist! my silence spells. Also I've seen wars or whatever get that message with poison.

The cover thing is a bug. I've seen it happen with Cover and Resist . Also, this never happened in beta If I'm not mistaken it started happening after the patch where "Resist" messages started appearing.

I've seen the cover bug too, but only on my log and no one else's in the same area. It seems the word gets randomly affixed to the start of the sentence. kinda like how some songs show up as meals eaten are affecting your performance.

I've had a similar erroneous message as well. Once I was in the Necropolis and casting sneak only to see:

Resist! Neriya casts Sneak on Neriya.

I don't know about most folks, but I know I don't want to be resisting sneaks in the necro -_- Thankfully the spell did stick and happened to last a long time too
