    Hello,
    For you long time players, I'm just wondering, can you please give me a list of the previous nerfs Square-Enix have made in the game to the jobs, ever since the game was out in Japan? From the US version of the site, only one I could find was the nerf for Shield Break for Great Axe weilders. (That's for War's and Drk's I guess.)

    Again, just being curious here. Thanks for anyone willing to help.

        While this is not really a nerf, it was a change for PLDs...one of the first big changes I remember was with the TP system sometime in fall 2002. Before then you got 5 TP each time you landed a hit (any weapon, any delay) and 10 TP anytime you got hit. Since I am an elvaan PLD my hit rate has always been poor but I was able to keep up with the melees for renkei due to the amount of TP I got just by tanking...after this change I was scrambling to find gear to help with accuracy because the new (still current) TP system gave tanks only a few TP per hit taken. My weapon did go from 5 TP to around 8 TP per hit since it was now based on the delay but if you can't hit it doesn't matter. It was after this that PLDs were being used less and less in renkei.

        That jogged my memory on another eventful update sometime in 2002...after the patch the hate system was all screwed up and curing/status spells/damage spells/debuffs were giving the highest hate....provoke, job abilities, renkei, nothing would pull the hate back...mages were dropping like flies. It didn’t take long for the emergency maintenance notice to pop up

            Old TP system was great... the amount of TP you got back from a WS was based on damage, not the amount of hits you got in. You could get 100% TP, pull 10ish enemies, and endlessly spam your -ga WS... i miss that.
            I plan to live forever.. so far so good.

              Yes, I remember reading about some of the first patches to the game around 2 years ago. Poison and Bio used to be MUCH stronger and BLMs could solo a lot easier with those two DOTs.
              You could probably look through news archives on this or other FFXI sites to see if they have update/patch information listings.

                First year the game was out there was a different area where you would have to change jobs besides MH

                    Holy was tottaly nerfed..they lowered range,and damage..and cast time became longer

                    another nice nerf was skill up rate..weapons were much easier to skill up before

                    a sweet time was when exp was screwed up for lv 61-65..you went from 200-280 chain 5 at lv 60 to 80 -120 max at lvl 61..

                    which brings me to the really sweet "change" (as they call it) to orcs in davoi. i lvled sooo much there..in davoi on orcish zerker, dragoon ect..doing so now is totally useless..

                    if you want to find all nerfs just look at update history and replace "has been changed" by "has been nerfed for your pleasure have fun!"

                    regarding the "change" to the hate system..what a glorious time it was when players were AFRAID to go lvl up...
                    and please remember at that same time they "introduced" the fun weather icon (yay) who made elementals pop when it rained ect (basically they poped waay more than before)
                    i remembered being oh so "thrilled" (yes FFXI updates are always a thrilling experience) to die 5 times because a water ele poped right on my PT....

                    on the good side of things we have RDM who was really useless before and is the strongest job now..and WHM who has hexa strike (basically square saying hey drop your damage dealer job and lvl whm you'll do more damage)

                    oh another thing for PLD's vorpal blade used to do 1000+ damage on demons (now it does maybe 300-600) but hey PLD has flash...

                        going into moghouse used to kick you out of PT. there was no region search you could only search 1 specific area at a time. there was no specific PT colour/comment search, only 1 green one. the circle abilities used to have 5min regen and lasted 1minute, and give some sort of added defence instead of an intimidation status. ah item list used to be organized very differently.

                              i remember trick attack used to give damage bonus when THF was sub. now it doesn't.

                              also, RNG used to be a super expensive job and there was no damage cap for WS
