Will NA players ever compete with haijins on the same level?

This is a question that I'd like your opinions on. Will NA players ever become a dominant force in the game? Currently, JP haijins have full set cursed gear, they kill HNMs day in day out, camping them always, no matter how long it takes, while NA players are shouting (|?•‚¯‚Ä!!|) in jeuno. Will there ever be a point where NA players will compete with the top players on the servers? Or will FFXI always be controlled by JP players?

I know some really good NA players on my server, and I'm hoping that with the PS2 release we'll see a new wave of hardcore console gamers rather than the EQ/SWG crossovers from the PC, but right now haijins are in such a high level of class that I don't think anyone can stop them and their 500 million gils. Thoughts? ƒµ(?M?Þ?L)ƒµ

And no, I dont think they will be able to, the haijins have so much of a start on them. By the time that the haijins from US get to where they are, the JP will be ages ahead of them.

welp, as it stands right now the majority of new NA players are still inexperienced but i'm confident that a good time after ps2 release all these horror stories will die down and EVENTUALLY NA and JPs will be on par with each other. That's what i hope anyways.. its nice to pt in english but NA pts are generally bad still but itll be nice to be able to get good pts at all times of the day.

Dont think we'll catch up. By the time we start too, a new patch or expansion will come along and theyll have a head start and cap off faster than we do once again.

Look how fast JP players were able to get to 75 from 70.... I hadnt seen a lvl 75 EN player on my server til about 14-17 days after the cap was raised...far after lvl 75's showed up on our server. I only know of about 10-15 NA players on my server now that are 75 (may be more, but they are rare).

We dont have enough high level people we can ask for assistance (that speak EN), therefore quest/missions take longer to complete and that will keep us behind.

it requires more than just skill and behing high level to accomplish many things
especially most of the good stuff high level are rare/ex now seeing... group and unity is required. and imo NA players don't unite well enough heh

Time will only tell. Like Starving posted, I have 6 ppl I know that started when I restarted (US release OCT 31st) and had already hit 75 by christmas time.

More and more ppl are hitting the cap and as they do they'll have nothing else to do besides lvl another job or compete in the HNM game.

Yea, there are tons of hardcore NA players out there but they need more time, you can't just catch up players who've been playing for 2 years in 4 months.

It's unfortunate but sometimes to be the "best" at this game doesn't necessarily equate to having a fun time, but there is satisfaction from being a part of a well-oiled, efficient HNM killing machine, I guess. Most of the people in my LS still lack the group mentality to carry out anything more complicated than simple AF tours and Rank5. They're simply there "to have a good time."

Even though the JP players will always have an upperhand when it comes to the dissemination of information from developers, I'm certain given time non-JP based players will be able to compete at the same level far's organizational skills are concerned.
