  • Set Parties (or, Nobody Likes Me)

They say if you have to ask, you'll never know...

What the heck does a person have to do to get into a static party anyway? I've known a few people on Kujata who are in them, but in all cases they were friends who decided to all play the game together. I've heard of LS parties, but those never seem to pan out quite right, and so it seems like the only kind of static PT that works is one that's deliberately and purposefully established.

Question is, who does that kind of thing? I'm not exactly the most social person in the world, but as a PLD I'm constantly partying and it seems like a lot more trouble than it's worth to keep doing pickup groups. I know I could schedule plenty of time to do it, and I know I'm pretty reliable (to say nothing of competent). But I'm a NA release player, I wasn't in the beta, and I don't speak Japanese, so I (1) don't know anybody from way back, (2) couldn't do this with JP players because I can't talk to them, and who wants to level with some dorky NA tank for God knows how many levels?

So my question is... how do you get in on this sort of thing? Is it destined to be the exclusive domain of high-levels leveling subs, or is there some way to jump in on one as a tank? Failing that, is there any way for a single person to just up and START one? I imagine the logistics are, to be blunt, ridiculous. But it's worth asking for advice on how best to do this. Bonus points if you're on Kujata and can explain the mechanics of how this thing works, even if you can't be of any direct help. I don't care about anything but the exp, so any strings attached (helping other PT members with quests/equipment/whatever) are fine with me. I'd just like to try it.
Retired for good this time; been a fun ride everybody.

well... same thing as RL... how do people manage to meet up with their bands and play together?

You meet people, make good friends, talk it out, that's all.

        Hi Arnda!

I have been with my set PT since lvl 25 on my first job (MNK). Now there is no secret to it, its all about your friends having about the same schedule as you. and most definatly about being patient. I have been playing with this character since the NA client came out and im still only lvl 45. I could have lvld much faster, but i have a lot more fun waiting for my team mates than trying to rush through the lvls.

so my advice is when you find good Players and become friends with them, keep contact and pace yourself with them... i have been PTing with these guys form more that 50 lvls... i know exacly how they play and i can trust my life to them... when you get that type of trust in a PT you will find yourself killing monsters 10 lvls above you or more.... the other day we managed to kill 5 IT bats in gustav at once... thats the kinda of power you will find when great players come together and know exacly eachothers styles....

hope this is any help...and good luck on your search

I couldn't tell you anything without repeating whats already been said. When you find good people in a group, talk to them and even add them to your friend list. Every once in awhile i'll see someone I pt'd with in a town, and just casually say hi.

I've got a static PT right now, but its simply me and two others.
But its better than nothing. We can pretty much chain up to three VT's with no problems on our own. If we ever need much of any help at all we can always find a player thats looking to lvl.
If any of them ever pan out just like we desire, we'll attempt to invite them and let them know our usual times of play....

You just have to get past that initial hi, and you should be alright.

          Great luck to you Arnda

If ever new servers come about, and you're willing to move, I'd love to set up a set PT with anyone interested .
