The gil making thread

I'm in the process of trying to make a good, decent amount of gil before I tackle the Ninja profession (its the job I want to take to higher levels) I know it costs a good amount of gil so I'd like to have a good starting reserve and continue increasing it as I go along.

Anyways, I'd like to hear/share any gil making tips that anyone knows or can come up with for this thread. Anything really, Quests, Missions, merchant tactics, specific NM's to hunt and the like. Anything really, I'd love to hear what anyone has to say.

I'm biting the bullet and leveling my Thief to 15 soon so I can have Treasure hunter and gil farm more efficiently. So far I've gil farmed in Tahrongi and Giddeus more than most places, there must be other places that are good as well for certain items. ^^ I'm not looking for insanely high income at the moment, I know that comes with later levels.

So, any kind of info or tips, whatever? :D

No one ever wants to hear this but BCNM's are the surest way to make money if you go in prepared and trust each other completely. Other than that, Tiger Teeth. If you're still not high enough to tackle Batallia Tigers comfortably go with the Jugner ones though they're a little more sporadic.

Meh, I think its something about going into crawlers nest and trading rollanberrys to ???, then getting a better one, and repeating. This quest wasn't fully explained to me.

I've actually hunted a few NM's for a bit just to try it out, and I bagged myself Huu Mjuu in Giddeus my first try. XD I had fierce competition with a high level, it was really fun! But unfortunatly I didn't get the Monster Signa, but the Zealot Mitt's I got were still worth at least a little gil. But I can see why so many players make NM hunting such an organized deal, its really exciting.

BCNM's though? I know HNM's, are they the same or different?

I tried this quest and I was disappointed... as a BST I doubt killrate was an issue either, crawler hunter with 1k special attack made a good pet.

I've been trying Mining and it's ok so far, but it is slow, for a stack of pickaxes that cost 2600, I can get about 3k-7k profit but it is very random.

BCNM is very hard, I've gotta find people willing to do it so we can get some money @_@

gil farming, I've given up on, it's good at early lvls but it's jus not worth it for me, maybe gil farming giants, but that's not till a higher lvl

about that Rolanberry 881 thing, why 61? I'm sure you could solo it earlier. A lvl 36-37 pt of mine actually exped off that quest crawler but in the end we couldn't find the quest giver. I'm sure you could solo it before that

didn't think about the Jugner tigers, but yeah, they are really uncommen and it takes a while to find them

Cid (Cid's Lab, Bastok Metalworks) Do Cid a personal favor. Go see if there is any way you can help the manager of the Steaming Sheep Restaurant.

Talk to Hilda at the Steaming Sheep Restaurant in Port Bastok, she wants you to find "a rolanberry (874 C.E.)".

Purchase several rolanberries from M & P's Market in Upper Jeuno for 120 gil a pop. Next go to the Crawler's Nest and place a rolanberry (sometimes it takes two or three) into the first ??? Basket (J-9) of the Crawler's Nest (it's what's refered to as the"giant pulsating testicle" room). A Guardian Crawler will appear at the tunnel enterance at (I-8). Defeat the Guardian Crawler to get Rolanberry 881. Next, place Rolanberry 881 in the ??? Basket (H-7) in the upper (or lower?) Crawler's Nest area (where the scorpions and bombs are) and a Drone Crawler will appear. Kill that to recieve Rolanberry 874.

Your reward is a Ram Mantle

NO quest needed to do this. Buy rolanberries then go to the place in crawlers nest where lab lizards are. Trade rolanberry to ??? and a guardian will pop. The spawn rate isn't 100% but it's ALOT better than the ??? point back where all the noobs level.

That's why I say you need lv61+. Infact, that's too low for the lab lizard area but fine for the n00b area. IT REALLY helps when you have a multi hit WS for good kill rate. The constant trading is tedious but still makes you money if you're okay with it.

One stack of berry costs 1.4k, one stack of 881 is 9.6k. That's like 8k profit each stack. Take around 20 stacks with you and you should make a sweet profit. Also note that the NM drops silk sometimes too and can also be stolen from. 1 stack of silk is like 10k+? Good money to be fucking honest.

After you finish go to selbina and find an NPC galka named Vuntar, Trade berries to him for your gil.

This should help you get on your feet with gil and maybe go for bigger fish when you are higher.

As soon as lizards no longer agro me I'm going to solo it with Phalanx and Vorpal blade, practically living there. I can probably make one million gil in around 2-3 days IF there's nobody else there.

what level do the lizards not aggro anymore?

I was fine at lvl 68 with no aggro, maybe just a tad lower is ok. They are lvl 50-53 I think.

Since Razz talked about the quest I'll go ahead and explain some of my frustrations:

After turning in 27 stacks (yes 27 stacks of rolanberries) at the labrynth lizard spot I got 13 stacks of 881 which was ~ a 50% fail rate. A RDM friend of mine tried this at the maze lizard spot and said she had ~ 70% failure rate at the maze lizard location (only 6 stacks though so not really a good sample size). So with the 50% failure rate you are making about a 550 gil profit per berry (30 kills per hour is pretty good which = 16.5k gil / hr) + whatever silk you get.

Turning in 881 berries for 874 berries at the adjacent labrynth spot resulted in ~50% failure rate also. So basically 27 stacks of rolanberries resulted in 7 stacks of881 berries, and this took about 7+(??) hours to do. At the second labrynth lizard spot you are probably better off just handing in 881 berries in selbina instead of spending the time getting 874 berries, even though you are making an additional profit of about 200 per berry, you are spending a lot more time.

Later (once I get to 70 and war sub to 35) I will probably try the location near theknight crawlers with the higher level drone crawler (55 instead of 50) and this might improve the conversion rate of the881s enough to make it worthwhile. I guess it's definitely not horrible, but the fact you need 65+ to effectivelydo this quest the gil return isn't stellar (for other stuff I couldbe hunting with BST I guess such as manticore hides), but it is guaranteed gil.
