sigh... im gonna get a new vid card and hope to boost my score to the 3000 ~ 4000 range
strange thing i find is that i meet all reccomended system requirements on the official website except vid card (which still meets the minimum) and yet the test score sais i cant even run FFXI online...where's your head at?Comment

my friend just baught a new comp and he sold it to me for $300.oo.it is
1.6 g
512 ddr ram
80 gig of hdd space
and a new ati 9800 pro.
what do u think the bench score would be???????????

OnesAndZeros, I used to have a geforce 2 mx 400, I have 2.26 ghz 512 megs of RD 800 ram and windows xp and I got a 2000 on the origional benchmark. ti 4200 vs ati 9600 128mb pro
old bench: 51XX
new, low: 44XX
new, high: 31XX
that is with a ti 4200
*projected bench, i don't have the money right now*
ati 9600 pro w/ 128mb ddr
old bench: 6500+
new, low: 4700+
new, high: 4000+
that is what it would be, if i got the money.

I appreciate your response but i took the time and did a bunch of research. My price range accounts for a new motherboard and a GeForce4 FX 5600. Objections to this are welcome as the possibility for mistakes is always broad.where's your head at?Comment

OnesAndZeros, the amd at 1gh is comparable to a p3 at 1.1gh in integer calculations, but less than the p3 at 700mh in floats. games use a lot of floats, so the amd processors are at a disadvantage. my 2.53 p4 can wipe the floor with an amd 3200+ in floats/s.
go with 9600pro (only pro), 9700, or 9800. they are much better than the 5600.

1800 average score on high res...-sigh-
2900 average on low res, but...FFXI on low res?!
These are my stats:
Pentium 4 2.53 ghz
512 MB PC800 RDRAM (or RAMBUS)
GeForce 3 Ti 200 128 MB (see?)
Windows 2000 Pro
