  • 5000!?
    you're kidding me
    it'd barely get 2,000
the resolution must be only about 640x480 on the ps2 and even then it's really jerky with big backgrounds
That's just the way it is, things will never be the same.

    • Actually the PS2 version is set to 800x600 resolution,
      like all other PS2 games

      • I downloaded the benchmark from the Information post last night but when I was unzipping it it said there was an error. The exact message is: Error: The system cannot find the file specified
Cannot create c:\unzipped\FFXiBench\FFXiBench then it has these weird bold marks and letters.txt When it was done downloading and I opened it I remember it said there was some sort of problem with that same file I guess. What the hell happened? I know my pc won't support FFXI I was just curious though on the score I'd get

          • If you want a sickly score try on an AMD 3000+ XP processor with 2 sticks of either Kingston, Corsair or Mishkin RAM 512MB ( ram is extremely important ) running at the highest bandwidth possible. You need a high quality motherboard to run this stuff, ex: Tyan, EPoX, MSI... maybe even Gigabyte.

An ATI9700/9800Pro, /no/ soundcard ( just for added fun ).

You see, AMD processors have more floating points and are a little better at directing the flow of data than an Intel. Intel are great for linear media ( video / audio ). In the end AMD %XP procs are better for gaming, despite the slower speeds.

This is all very expensive. And if you can afford any of this stuff then you might as well save a bit more and wait for a Parhelia2 by Matrox... that thing is gonna be grossly powerful. Or, if you do not want to wait, go for something by 3Dlabs graphics. Since the game runs Directx8.1 rather than the new 9, some of these newer OpenGL graphics engines added support for D3D.

            • Hey Shadovar: That's exactly where I downloaded it when I had problems..
Try downloading it again from the link in this thread (the very first post) Then run it again.

              Hope this works for you!

                • Okay Shadovar.. Go to the following site:
                  http://www.playonline.com/ff11win/wina2.html

Then scroll to the bottom of the page and click the light blue 'I agree' button
(it has a taru taru head next to it).

A window should pop up letting you download the file.

                  Hope this works.

                              • Yeah, for a 9700Pro in American dollars $350 would be a find. Of course, every month the value drops... I would expect that by the tyme the game comes out, everyone would not mind shovelling out the cash for an ATI9700Pro as well as the AGP8x mobo to sport it.
