Somethings wrong:
I downloaded the benchmark, but as soon as it is installing I get a message (in japanees, but with some english words stating a file in some map on my HD)
I cant get the bench installed.

Also the zip file I DL-ed earlier isnt working either, I deleted it completely.

Someone plz help...

Same thing happened to me, i pressed IGNORE and it continued, then completed.
it wouldn't extract the txt file on my pc
try extracting them manually
here is a copy of the filenames and where they go

I couldn't press ignore.

I only could press OK.

The error message was:

(and then a lot of japanees crap began for 2 and a half more lines)

But anyway I'm sure FFXI will run on my PC I just wanna see the graphics (drools)

I have a:

Athlon 2400+ (2000 Mhz)
GeForce 4 Ti 4800 (just released) 128 MB
512 MB DDR
Windows XP

I'm very confident it will work seeing as the graphics card determines the score.
And seeing I got a 8500+ score at the 2001 SE benchmark from madonion.com (resentely renamed in FutureMark)

But at the 2003 test I got like 1500

I keep gettin an error in ddraw.dll , ive got Pentium 900 mhz, 380 ram, but i dont think ive much of any graphics card. Would that be the problem?

sounds like an error in your windows or something, but you can't play ffxi on a 900mhz, i think that 1.2ghz is the minimum required, and i think we all know how badly games run on minimum spec' machines.

download DX 9 from www.microsoft.com

Installation problems.

If you are failing to install the benchmark because of directory path problems or similar things, please ensure that the DEFAULT LANGUAGE settings for Programs is set to Japanese!

You should be reading Japanese CHARACTERS not jibberish that looks like Japanese. Please ensure that they are really Japanese characters and not something similar. Please ensure that the characters are matching and (to the best of your ability) make sense. Thanks AKosygin that really helped. FFXI bench works now, even when I switch back to the original language settings.

My highest score was: 4964, my lowest was 4880

My average is round 4930

So I'm happy with the score.

But one thing must be said, I really dislike the taru pop-up in the bench. Like in the ship scene the taru where just dissapearing and reappering like crazy, when you should see an arm sticking out from behind the ship.

But the graphics, wow.

I want that game...

I just ran the test again but now with Internet Explorer ON and MSN messenger too.

I thought it the score of the bench would be less, cause I already ran the test when I was offline and when the PC just was restarted.

first I got 4964 as highest score, now my highest is 5026 with a second place of 5010. This is very strange. Maybe it helps to have the PC on for a while ???:confused:

Ah Hell! Im running windows ME, thats why it's not working. Time to get XP.

i'm running win98 and it starts up and works - why get xp? it sucks ass because it's always processing things, it runs far slower than 98 with tools you can live without, plus getting xp would mean either forking out £150 + or breaking the law
