Whooo...i'm glad I found the link finally for the benchmark...I got 4198 with openCanvas and IE running...

    My specs are:
    512 mb ram
1.9 ghz (a lot less than all the other 4k+ ppl so o.0)
    64mb Nvidia Geforce4
    WinXP home

I was gonna get the ps2 version all this time, but now I'm thinking, why spend so much money when I have a perfectly good, ridiculously expensive computer sitting in my bedroom? PC it is.

                My Scores

Just ran the benchmark a few times...
I think that I have a pretty typical setup for early 2k3, maybe a little weak in the graphics dept, but ~GeForce3 level.

                System:

                Athlon XP 1600+
                512MB PC2700
                Radeon 9000 Pro 64MB
                Windows XP Home

                Running in the Background:
                MSN Messenger
                Norton Antivirus 2K3
                DSL connection

                3x in a row:
                3746
                3771
                3790

                Exit/Restart Benchmark

                3x in a row:
                3806
                3823
                3795

                Average score (3788)

                Take that! :spin:

Finally broke down and got Windows XP Pro (upgrade from Windows 98SE).

The highest score I can get is 5411. On average I get 5400. Here's my PC:

                  AMD Athlon XP 2000+ Overclocked(1803Mhz~12.5X144)

                  Gainward GeForce4 Ti 4200 PowerPack! Ultra/650 64MB Overclocked (GPU~320/MEMORY~640)

                  MSI KT3 Ultra2 motherboard

                  256MB Centon PC2100 Overclocked

Tons of tweaked drivers and programs.

                    Updated score (O/C 1600+ to 1700+)

                    Guess I didn't get a 'great' overclocker...the CPU won't take 141 x 10.5, even at 1.85V.

                    System:

                    Athlon XP 1600+ O/C to 1470 MHz (1700+)
                    512MB PC2700
                    Radeon 9000 Pro 64MB (NON O/C)
                    Windows XP Home

                    Running in the Background:
                    MSN Messenger
                    Norton Antivirus 2K3
                    DSL connection

                    3x in a row:

                    3940
                    3997
                    3912

                    Average score (3949) vs (3788) for 1600+

Hoping to get above 4000 with a little video O/C!

                    Take that!

                      Video and CPU O/C

Good results from video O/C so far!

                      Radeon 9000 Pro 64MB (mem 275/core 300)
                      (defaults are 250/274)

                      Running in the Background:
                      MSN Messenger
                      Norton Antivirus 2K3
                      DSL connection
                      Entech PowerStrip O/C utility

                      3x in a row:

                      3800
                      4132
                      4110

                      Exit Benchmark, start it again:

                      4079
                      4136
                      4127

                      Average score (4064)

Next up: How far can I push the video?!

                      Take that!

Looks like this is where I'll be leaving it for now:

                        Athlon XP 1600+ @ 1470
                        Radeon 9000 Pro @ 294/284 (core/mem)
-I get dropped textures any higher than this...

Run 3x (well more like 20x, went out for a while):

                        4084 (1st run)
                        4109 (after ~20mins continuous)
                        4112 (just after #2)

                        Average (4101 O/C) vs (3788 Non O/C)

Much better than where I started!

Moral of the story: Overclock is worth it, folks, but be careful~!

                        Take that! :spin:

A poor graphics card can screw up a whole test. I have an MX 440 w/ 64 MB DDR and I got a 2300 on the test. I have seen people get scores around 4000 with almost the specs I have on my PC. I think they were using a Ti4400 w/ 128 MB DDR. Thats how much of a differenece a graohics card can make.

                            i have a p4 1.9ghz, 40gb 7220 rpm hdd, geforce graphics card, 2 mx (440?), 64mbs, i got a bench of 600...
                            something's wrong
                            i'm running win98 with DX 9.0
i think i have the wrong drivers installed as gta3 used to run okay at 1600x1200 res and now it's jerky at 640x480
That's just the way it is, things will never be the same.

It's your graphics card...it sucks major ass...but you shoulda got a higher score, run it again without anything running in the backround.

                                you serious?
even though when I was running xp it ran twice as fast?
                                I think it's a geforce 2 mx 440 but the driver i have installed says geforce 2 mx 400
if i had a spare £200 then id go out and buy the RADEON 9700, i spent my last £300 on ffxi and an hdd for my jap ps2 that i can't get working for the life of me.
I ran the thing again and got about 650...
it still runs though, the bench test, so if i dont mind it being very very very ver .... ery very jerky, I could run it, it runs at about 5 - 10 frames / sec
That's just the way it is, things will never be the same.
