Ok, I have a GeForce 4 and it doesn't really look that great to me. Are there some settings that I need to change or what? I don't really know much about computers. I jus tbought the card because I wanted to play Star Wars Galaxies but now I want to play FFXI Online.

      Some comparison....

Well, I did a benchmark on three computers, one of them is mine and two of them are my friends, the scores and stats:

      Score: 2989
      Pentium 4 1.7 GHz
      1GB of RAM
      Windows 2000 Advanced Server
NVidia GeForce 3 - 64 MB Video Ram
170 GB HD Space (3 drives)

      Score: 2851
      Pentium 4 2.8 GHz
      512 MB RAM
      Windows 2000 Professional (Japanese)
      Nvidia GeForce 4 MX 640 (?) - 128 MB Video RAM
380 GB HD Space (2 drives)

*I know it is a GeForce 4 MX, just forgot the number.

      Score: 5125
      Pentium 4 2.6 GHz
      512 MB RAM
      Windows XP Home Edition
Nvidia GeForce 4 Ti 4600 - 128 MB Video RAM
360 GB HD Space (2 drives)

Well, we concluded the video card makes all the difference, your CPU and System RAM be damned.
      Signature was intentionally left blank.

Alright, I've gotten the benchmark to work on my better computer and these are the specs:

AMD Athlon XP 2100+ 1.7 GHZ

            512 MB SDRAM

            Windows 98 SE

            All-In-Wonder Radeon 7500 64 MB

            SCORE: 4074

How much would my score improve if I ran the bench with a GeForce 4 Ti4200?

What about a GeForce 4 Ti4200 on Windows XP?

Whhaaaa??? 4074??? That's a pretty good score compared to your computer specs...not bad!
And if you switch your card to GeForce Ti 4200 the score would surely increase. And you should get windows xp too. Not sure if it helps on playing the game but I sure like xp more than 98 lol. You could get more RAM also..that would help too.
But on a score of 4074 you would still be able to play the game on a pretty good resolution.

Personally, I prefer playing with 98, but so many people said XP is better for FF XI, so I might as well install it.

Thats funny My work machine is a P4 2.0 ghz with 512mb Ram and a Radeon 7500 and it only got 2799, I was just messing around, its not the mahcine Ill play the game on, at home I have a Athlon 1700+ with a 9700 pro and a P III 1gig with a geforce II GTS and I want to run the test on both those systems. I wonder why my work system got lower than yours then since the actual mhz is higher?

OK, I just tested my home systems and are the results....

                        Main Rig:
                        Athlon 1700 XP +
                        512 MB PC 2100
                        Radeon 9700 PRO
                        Score = 5123

                        Secondary System:
                        Pentium III 1.0 Ghz
                        512 MB PC 133
                        Geforece 2 GTS 32mb
                        Score = 1899

I see from some post abpve people with processors that are over a whole ghz faster than mine getting almost 1000 points less on the test because of an old video card...this game definilty relies more on the card than the proc/memory.

I guess I'll add my computer to this little gathering of information as well
                          computer specs:
                          AMD Athlon 1.4ghz
                          512MB PC2100 DDR Ram
                          Geforce2 GTS-V 32MB DDR
                          WinXP
I got around 2300 with this setup with normal settings, but after a bit of tweaking, overclocking, and a few benchmark runs later, I got to 3034

my video card is holding me back from going much further, and I'll be purchasing a new video card at about the same time FFXI comes to NA, most likely the new card will be an ATI Radeon 8500le 64MB card, which should get me to around 4500 or so with a bit of overclocking

I would just like to post something humorous:

                            I have an old computer:
                            66Mhz
                            16MB RAM
                            don't have a Video Card
                            14 years old (approx)

I got it to get to 1 point!!

                            a full 1 point!
