    • that aint a budget system to me lol

that's a good score, I get 6200 with a high end system lol (well, fairly high end )

with a year old dell w/ 2.5gh p4, 512 rdram(800 kind, not 1033), the intel 450(i think) motherboard, and a 64mb ti4200, i get an average of 5100. you should be getting more than 800 above me with your specs. your processor is about equal, ram should be better, motherboard owns, and you even have a better graphics card.

          • Card makes the difference

            my old specs;
            P4 1.3
            128 RDRAM
            GeForce 2 64Mb
            WinXP pro

            Score: ~1500

just upgraded memory by 256 to 384 damn RDRAM is so expensive like 140 bucks. (yeah yeah i bought it at CompUSA cuz they said free instalation, little did i know that they where going to have my comp done in a week, told them to go to hell and did it myself.)

            Score: ~1700

Conclusion if you need to upgrade, upgrade the Video Card. (which is my next purchase)
****Downloaded newest Nvidia Driver, now nurring in the low 2000's***

            • NONONNONNNNOOONONONONNO!

The bench mark is cpu and memory driven.

              sys1

              My 2 comps and scores

              AMD2500+
              1gig 2100 Ram
              9800pro with latest cats

              =4xxx

              sys2

              P4 3.2 800mhz bus
              1gig 3200 ram (dule channel)
8500LELE (thats right its an LELE such cards exsist)

              =6800

video cards arent as important as cpu and raw memroy bandwidth.

i took the 9800pro and put it in my p4 rig

              i got 8200 points.

It seems that athlons are laggin in this game.
maby due to poor clock speeds or the game is opimized for pentium instruction lengths.

              • first of all....there's a big difference between the processors and the video cards, so you saying that teh video card doesn't do anything is rather pointless. If ya wanna prove that its CPU andRAM, keep the same video card in both tests, because you changed the video card, you screwed the test over. End of conversation:p

Your right i did not make myself clear last post.

ahem. If you look at my 2 test rigs why did the one with the Superior gaphics card SUCK in the benchmark??!?!?
The slower cpu PROVING the benchmark is not graphics card driven but cpu driven.

And if you look closer at what I wrote youll see I DID INFACT use the same video card after. Scoring around 8200 with the 9800 and P4, while the slower AMD and the 9800 only gave me around 4600.

Why is it when you use other benchmarks noteably 3dmark2003

higher graphics cards not cpus make leaps and bounds.? the benchmark is graphics card intensive?

thats not to say going from a rage 128 to a GFX5600 wont raise your score, and or wont make your game (benchmark) play better.

But when you have an all around low end system . cheep cpu ram, Graphics card... ect

my advice is dont plunk down cash for a new graphics card. better to get a new cpu, ram or mobo for this game first. now its "end of conversation"

                    • error

ive downloaded the benchmark and installed it but when i try to run it an error keeps coming up that says; Direct3D|i|||u|>>|E|,|s|u|u|u|1/2(-1)
                      What does it mean.
I thought that the direct3D part may have had something to do with directx but i had directx 9 and then i downloaded directx 8 to see if it made a difference but, NOTHING!!
                      Please help.

                      • your graphics card is outdated most likely, that or you don't have the right drivers/ dx8.1.

                          • er, 44%?? I dunno what your talking about...heheh

but those two graphics cards are pretty much the same, switching from PCI to AGP doesn't change all too much. if you really want to fork out money for a new graphics card, just buy a better one.

                              • yeah the ti runs the game a lot better, you can buy the card at bestbuy, and you can ask them about installing it. it's not really that hard to install if one of your friends is good with computers they could do it in a matter of minutes.
