Yeah, pretty sure that's just a tiefling.

As for the races, the most absurdly entertaining campaign premise I ever participated in was a party composed entirely of monster races. I was the captive goblin of a bugbear Ranger who took favored enemy: goblins. It made for an interesting dynamic while it lasted. I was in charge of fast-talking and thinking while he was in charge of smashing things and stuffing me back in my cage.

Been reading through the Order of the Stick archives and I've realised one hilarious thing: Elan (the Bard) is the only "PC" that actually has a decent build:

Roy is a single-class Fighter (A class in 3.5 that is ALWAYS multiclassed to compete at later levels) with high Intelligence (not horrible for a Fighter). However he doesn't carry a single backup weapon which has screwed over the entire party before and is pretty inexcusable for the party's main frontline fighter. Plus he has no Ranged Weapon, he ONLY uses the Greatsword.

Belkar is a dual-wielding Halfling Ranger/Barbarian (Halflings have a Strength penalty and a Dexterity bonus and can only use small weapons, so Archery is a much better choice). Wisdom is his dump stat so he can't cast a single Ranger spell and also gives hi ma massive penalty to his scouting skills, plus he doesn't even put points into those skills. He also multiclassed into Barbarian (this is 3.5 so it gives him an XP penalty). Plus he picked a Housecat as his animal companion.

Haley is a Human rogue specialising in longbows (Humans aren't automatically proficient in Longbows so she had to waste a feat for that). Until she stole Crystal's dagger she never carried a melee weapon and had to actually take Elan's Rapier when her bow was broken leaving him without a weapon. Basically she never exploits the fact that Rogues shine when flanking (which means she rarely gets to Sneak Attack) and put all her feats into things like Martial Proficiency (Longbow) (when Shortbows and Hand Crossbows are already usable by Rogues anyway), Manyshot (widely regarded as a useless feat in 3.5 and she never uses it because you can't use it as part of a Full Attack). Plus she doesn't keep Search maxed out so she isn't that great at spotting traps. Her feat choice has also married her to a single weapon (something that is BAD for a Rogue).

Vaarsuvius is a wizard specializing in Evocation, with Necromancy and Conjuration as barred schools. That probably tells you everything you need to know right there. V would have fared much better at being a Sorcerer/ess.

Durkon is a single-classed Dwarven Cleric. This isn't too bad at all really, but Cleric without dips into Fighter isn't the best choice for Dwarves because they have a Charisma penalty, (which is Durkon's Dump Stat) and Charisma modifies Turn Undead checks. Remember that the main Antagonist is a Lich Sorcerer that specialises in Necromancy.

Now let's look at Elan. Despite the jokes about bards being useless, he did it right mechanically. Maxed-out Charisma for spellcasting and Perform checks? Yep. Bard-friendly prestige class that improves his combat ability? Yep. His selection of spells could be better but from a story point of view they are spot on.

"Productive things?" I really can't say I've heard of that phrase before. It is another RPG?
