Re: Important Notices
I'm available. Though, again, the sooner I can get a time, the better...I'm still working overtime on weekends.
I'd also like to say, once again, how much I appreciate Enlarge Person. It's hard to overstate my satisfaction.

Re: Important Notices
To be fair there's not a massive benefit to be gained from using metamagic before about 9th level.
And "crit fishing" is something that they improved as a playstyle in 4th edition. There Crits would always cause max damage and you would gain additional damage rolls depending on your enhancement and what bonus is gives.
Let's take a +2 Staff of Cunning and give it to a Lv8 Fighter with 18 Strength (+4). A crit with that would instantly do 8 damage (as Staves have 1d8 for damage) plus half level and Strength to the damage (since those are the damage mods for Strength based attacks) and a further 2d8 damage from the enchantment.
So 16 Automatic damage (8+4+4) and also an additonal 2d8 from that.
They also added a bunch of extra class features for classes that are centred around fishing for a crit. You might have a feat that gives bonus attacks for each crit (really nice for AoE attack) or a class ability that gives hit bonuses or bonus attacks if you crit. On the whole they did handle it a lot better than "Roll 20, try to hit again then end up rolling 1's, doing a crit for 2 damage"

Quickly adding this: My comment about metamagic feats is speaking strictly from an optimisation point of view. Since you won't really have the spell slots to properly use things like Enlarge and Maximise Spell until after 9th level, it just seems more efficient to grab the feat taxes you need to function and the feats that your build will need before then.
If course it is perfectly possible to use Metamagic feats before 9th level to great effect but it isn't exactly the most efficient use of your very limited at low level spell slots unless you know exactly what you are doing.Last edited by Firewind; 12-15-2012, 07:22 AM.

Yet another mechanic of questionable value, but since crits play such a minor role, eh.
Just making sure the expectations are in the right place.Originally posted by cidbahamutMetamagic always required higher level spell slots.

I can't view that character sheet either Yyg, you need to set it to public.

Ugh... and you add to the frustration even more by picking Eldrich Knight when clearly your build benefits more from Arcane Archer.
