        Well we used up your second level spells to deal a nice chunk of damage to the Gelatinous Cube. Lyulf complained when I suggested we rest to get spells back though and yyg had to run quickly so I have no idea as to what we ended the session actually doing.

            I want to hear the justifications for why we'd be sleeping in the middle of an enemy base that's filled with goblinoids, hostile magic and gelatinous cubes. Also I think the old crone we have in tow would probably take issue with that, or simply kill us all in our sleep.

                I'd like to hear how you expect us to get to the end of the dungeon without at least one PC death if we have no way to regain spent spells and no real way to control incoming damage other than putting bodies in the way.

                    Well it was directed at Cid

                    We know that the room that had the goblin group in is safe as any Goblins heading for us need to travel through the picture room or break down the door that I jammed.

                    If we get ambushed we can fall back to the entrance.

                      Agreed, let's rest. However now that we've made a big deal about resting, Yyg will have goblins parachute in throuh trap doors in the ceiling just to prove your reasoning wrong.

                        I'd question whether or not that's actually the correct course of action to be engaging in to begin with. There is an entire hobgoblin army making this castle its base of operations, I don't think sending in a handful of low level adventurers to slaughter the lot of them is a terribly good idea. Sure we can fight off small groups of them, but what happens when the horde comes marching home? We get surrounded, overwhelmed by sheer numbers and get added to Lord Oran's list of adventurers he used to know.

                                Ideally we'd approach this with a bit more finesse and try to find a solution that didn't involved trying to take on a whole hobgoblin army by ourselves. Something like, oh I don't know...finding out where the leader (Sin Ruth was it?) is and taking him out without alerting the whole band. Taking a nap right in the middle of enemy HQ isn't going to accomplish that. What it will accomplish is to get us discovered and surrounded by so many hobgoblins that we end up automatically dying.

                                Really though, what it comes down to is that there isn't a good in-character reason for us to be sleeping in the middle of a bunch of hobgoblins, unless your character is fucking psychotic and completely devoid of any survival instincts. There's calculated risks, and then there's being suicidal. Sleeping in the middle of enemy HQ pretty much out in the open tends to be the latter.
