Something that didn't occur to me: Did Babs even make a Concentration check to cast the spell that freed her? Just because she can cast spells without moving or talking it doesn't mean she can cast them freely when being grappled by 4 people. Also, casting the spell should've still provoked Attacks of Opportunity (unless she cast defensively, which would require a concentration check as well.)

Oh, right. I forgot about that, it did come up. Thanks.

Also, I'm gonna be working on some Python code this week to take care of all my rolls. I have too many conditionals right now and Traipse is too limited. Something like...

theron.attackRoll(enemy=GOBLINS) #copies "Attack Roll: [1d20+X]" into my clipboard

If anyone's interested, I'll try to make it as non-programmer-friendly as possible to rework for other characters.

About halfway done. I think I can have something presentable tonight.

Also, just a heads-up, not gonna be available on the 9th. Gonna be visiting my friends and family in Puerto Rico.

Correct. Nobody asked anything about her beyond the basic description I provided. For what it's worth in hindsight, a lavish and short-cut blue robe adorned with jewels and gemstones... a silver circlet with a large gemstone in the center and a small staff of no special nature.

Actually I asked 3 times but was ignored once and talked over twice.

I'm sorry. I can't find a gif of the worlds smallest violin... but rest assured its playing ever so softly just for you.

Also: wouldn't have mattered unless you tried to identify the magical properties of her circlet from a distance... Which undoubtedly you would not have tried.

Actually two party members carry detect magic and while I no doubt would have been talked over by someone for daring to suggest it, someone like Armando certainly would have thought of using Detect Magic.

And yes being talked over is still an issue. The majority of the time I just mute my mic and hope that Cid or Armando says something like what I want to say/suggest/do or I use what few gaps in all the talking there are to mention something that may be relevant and hope someone else realises what I'm getting at. Sometimes it really does feel like it would make no difference to the sessions if I was there or not and genuinely sound surprised and stumped for what to actually say if actually given the chance to say something.

I'm not demanding spotlight time or anything, I'm just asking for a bit of consideration really.

I'm not sure about all this talking over you're refering to. WHen it's your turn, you talk, no one is talking over you, or should eb talking over you when its your turn. No one gets more turns that you do, so no one should be able to "talk over you" during one of your turns. Now, throughout normal encounters, EVERYONE gets talked over, Yyg actually gets talked over more than anyone. You need to stop taking things personally. We value your opinion and input, etc. To think otherwise is just silly and sounds like you are having a pitty party. The group dynamic takes some getting used to, but i thought for the most part we were used to it. Again, Yyg gets talked over more than anyone, and when it's your turn, you should be able to talk uninterupted. During normal D&D play when its not in the turn based actions, there's no way to "raise your hand" to assure you're the only one talking so it's something we just need to work out. If you have a point and someone else is talking, do what i do, i wait for them to finish, then i start talking. If they keep going i stop, wait for them to finish, then i start talking again repeating exactly the thoughts i wanted to convey. if they continue to talk, i stop and wait. Eventually Yyg, will stop whoever keeps talking and announces, "Mezlo is trying to say something." This normally stops whoever is talking and clears the floor for me. It can be frustrating, but we need ot just work through it....

And to repeat again because i somehow feel like you still don't get it, I'm sure I speak for our entire party, your opinion is valued greatly and we ( i thought until you just tried pointing it out) make sure we hear everyones thoughts and opinions before making any real actions.

ie. we just didnt attack the sorceress, we tried everything we could think of. I couldnt think of anything so i started the, hey guys, we need to do something, can you think of anything other than bum rushing? we all thought about it, we all tried what we could, then when all else failed we all decided it was the best course of action. NOw, if you decided you didnt want to "touch" the sorceress, thats cool, but your input said nothing contrary to our actions of needing to get the sorceress back to Lord Oren. On that same note, sitting there with your mic off and not being able to contribute to the problem of "what should we do to get this sorceress back to lord oren" and then not the like decision we all came to of bumrushing her is also not fair. if you dont contribute to the decision or provide any input, the action we decide as a group to do should be ok with you.

Basically. And if you really want to have a crying match about it, the person who interrupts me the most is you (fire)... and more often than not... with something completely irreverent to the campaign. Cracking jokes is all well and good, but interrupting an NPC monologue in order to assure that your LOL is heard by all is hardly contributing... in fact... it's disruptive.

You're welcome to if you like. However... past listeners have often become integrated into the campaign. As a forewarning, there currently are no positions available for additional players, as I would like to strictly keep the party at a max of 5 players. Additionally: if you do in fact listen in on the sessions, I simply urge that you refrain from doing anything but listening. We have enough trouble staying on the rails without an outside participant throwing in comments and advice. Nothing against you... and I'm not saying you'd do it... I'm just nipping the potential in the bud.

I'd probably treat it like listening to some campaign podcast, except I'd actually know the participants. I'm not too interested in playing myself, so it's not a problem if I can't join, I don't have any advice to give either way. =P

                              • Re: General Discussion

@Yyg: I remember asking you about whether something would apply to my Grapple Roll and you said no, because it's not an attack roll. After looking into it, I found this in "Performing a Combat Maneuver":
If you are hit by the target, you take the damage normally and apply that amount as a penalty to the attack roll to perform the maneuver. If your target is immobilized, unconscious, or otherwise incapacitated, your maneuver automatically succeeds (treat as if you rolled a natural 20 on the attack roll). If your target is stunned, you receive a +4 bonus on your attack roll to perform a combat maneuver against it.
According to the rules as written, combat maneuvers are attack rolls too. That's probably the rules as intended as well, otherwise you end up with weird scenarios like Grapples that ignore Fight Defensively and Power Attack penalties.

@Cid: Not 100% done yet, but it's pretty close if you want to start taking a look at the source code. [Python] dndhelper.py - Pastebin.com

The functions of interest right now are ac() and attackRoll(). There's still some cases I need to add to ac() (e.g. fight defensively, total defense) and a lot of stuff I need to add to attackRoll (one hand vs two, power attacks...) The rest is mostly boilerplate code or stat definitions. Besides those two functions, save() lets you save your character to a file and load() restores it. See the Theron class below for an example of how you'd code in your own character's stats. Look at the very bottom for examples of armor, weapons, and buffs.
