  • Re: D&D

I need to figure out what feat I'm taking then. There's way too many to choose from but I've got it narrowed down to four.

Tougness: Pretty useful, but I'm doing ok on HP and can take it at any point really.
Fleet: Running away faster seems super useful
Mobility: Moving more freely through the battlefield Dodging attack of opportunity seems handy
Power Attack: Useful, but I might not get much use out of it for a while yet due to low Base Attack Bonus. Probably going to take it eventually.

I'd be interested in getting some input from you all before I choose one.

As I've said previously, I don't think you'll ever be in a position where Power Attack isn't worth the gamble. However, if you've got other equally valid Feats, you could postpone Power Attack until you're at BAB+4; at that point you get -2/+4 on attack/damage roll. Toughness is also pretty neat, but so far nobody's been KO'd other than on the first session, and I could've avoided that to begin with. Fleet is cool, but Mobility seems way more useful. If you just needed to move far, you have plenty of options like a Charge or Run which makes Fleet not as empowering.

So my vote goes to Power Attack or Mobility.

I was thinking of Flee more in terms of outrunning or chasing down other creatures with a base speed of 30, rather than getting an extra square of movement during combat.

The Hand did move pretty quick for you guys. With Fleet it could have been a different story.

I don't think we'll ever be in a life-or-death situation that requires us to catch up to someone though. (Although, we really need to start blocking doors, I'm getting tired of people running away!) Also, Mobility would help you get in flanking position.

EDIT: To be clear, ultimately it's your choice, and I'd even understand if Fleet is more in-line with you for RP purposes. I'm just saying how I'm looking at it.

Next session: enemy escapes through secret door in wall/rotating bookcase.

Nah it's cool. I'm probably going to end up taking all four of them at some point in the campaign. It's more a question of "when" than "if", so all the input is helpful.

We need rules for Applejack-style enemy lassoing. We've got two rogues with a shitload of DEX and INT and skill points and we're all carrying 50 feet 1 Standard Yyg Unit worth of rope each...

Seriously GTFO. I love teasing you about running away, but you're taking it to a whole new level... Keep in mind we are a party and we stick together. I find it will be very rare that you will actually need to run away faster than everyone else in the party is running... Pick a feat that actually helps you in combat.

Lynx balls are a dime a dozen and you got what... 200gp for them? The Tarasque (assuming it even has balls) is one of a kind... legendary... and practically a god. You'd settle for 1k? I'm with Cid... you have just had your coinpurse priviledges taken away until you can prove you deserve them again.
