Agreed. The book was decent when it was actually taking place in combat, but the rest of it was a bit of a drag and just a lot of political statements that weren't terribly entertaining.
There was a CGI cartoon that was a lot closer to the book in terms of setting but had a lot of the movie's action. If you can hunt it down you should give a few episodes.
Sadly there's no prestige classes for "Battle Cleric." There's the Crusader archetype, but it's too late to switch to that now.
EDIT: Actually, found one: Holy Vindicator. It actually gives purpose to Channel Smite, too. Interestingly the main requirement is Base Attack Bonus +5, so I also have to ask if we can't take prestige classes sooner than Lv10. I could pick this class as early as Lv6, and it's pretty cool.
To be fair Cleric with dips into Fighter makes a pretty effective battle cleric anyway. Clerics do get a number of spells that buff melee stats and abilities. Just don't go too far into Fighter if you want the divine spellcasting ability otherwise you will just end up as a kinda bad Paladin.
Also there are these Prestige classes that you may find interesting if Yyg is allowing Paizo PrC's
Inheritor's Crusader is tied to a specific deity, and Justiciar doesn't quite fit me or give me spellcaster levels which sucks because I'm already 2 levels behind on that. Divine Scion looks interesting but Yyg would have to approve of that AND work it into the story since it means I'm on direct orders from some deity. Holy Vindicator looks cool too.
Just to confirm: are we definitely only able to prestige at 10? I'm just sorting a progression outline for if I do go down the AT Route that's all. Since if I can't go AT until 10 then I may well grab a couple more Rogue levels for Skill points and Uncanny Dodge or a few more Wiz/Sorc levels for more spellcasting progression.
Also I'm still not sure if I want to go pure rogue as well but I guess I have until I hit 4th level to decide on that.
Anyone my feat for Lv3 will be one of the following:
Toughness - Let's face it, my character needs it since I keep rolling horrendously for HP and an extra 3HP then +1HP a level adds up FAST. Dodge - Moar AC is always nice plus it opens up Mobility which is just plain awesome for both Rogues and Arcane Tricksters Two Weapon Fighting - Since I have the spare Rapier and since you apply sneak attack damage to each attack and the off-hand attack doesn't require a full attack action...Yeah that's some really nice bonus damage right there. Precise Shot - I like using my Longbow and the penalties for shooting into a melee suck. Plus it also applies to Ranged Touch Attacks and Rays for if I go AT. Improved Initiative - Rogues love going first since catching people flat footed on the first round of combat or getting to go first in a surprise round is always nice.
Give me like... an hour... and I'll have all these questions answered for you. There's been a lot of activity in this thread over the past few days.
I spent the weekend drinking in Boston on Saturday after the game... then went to a water park on sunday... and spent all day yesterday cleaning the house and learning to cook some food-stuffs I was until now... unfamiliar with.
Today was the first time I got the chance to see anything in here. Give me time to read back both pages...

No problem, mine is just me asking if you would consider allowing us to prestige before 10 that's all. That and my last post was me thinking out loud about feats. So far I have toughness on my sheet as my new feat but I may or may not change it.Also you all have me on Skype for if you want to talk. I'm free all night tonight.
In other news: I loved The Hand. You could have just pitted us against a generic Gnoll, but that guy was freaking bad-ass. I kinda hope we haven't seen the last of him, since he was kind of interesting even if we didn't get to interact with him much beyond trying to kill him.

Vindicator would be my choice... but if you're set on Scion, I can find a way to make it work. Your character... although forthright in combat... is largely veiled in mystery and it would be reletively easy to grant you a backstory of more depth and significance.
Actually there is one more thing I wanted to clarify: do you need to do a full attack to use the extra hit from two-weapon fighting?
In order to use more than 1 attack in a round you must expend your attack as a full round action, yes. This means no movement or minor action before or after the attack and would limit you to full-attacking only those people/creatures within immediate range of you at the start of your attack round.

Going by the rules as written, the hits from the Two Handed Fighting feats are bonus attacks (like Double/Triple Attack from FFXI) so you always get your off hand attacks.
2-weapon fighting, however... is and always has been a little tricky. Don't rule it out just yet. I have to find out what the underlying differences are between PF and 3.5 Edition before I say for sure. Give me some time to check that out.

I misunderstood what Armando had written at first. I thought he was asking about 2-handed fighting... not 2 weapon fighting/dual wielding.
