  • Re: D&D

I like this idea for play by post in between sessions... exclusively for non-combat.

I do really like this idea since it also gives us a chance to show each other what our characters are like in more detail like their thoughts, mannerisms and any quirks you can't really get across in a Skype session

I guess I get to be the wet blanket of the party and say I have reservations about play-by-post.

The only problem I can come up with for PBP is that I have no way of asking you guys to roll for anything.

Supposing you want to try to do something mid-conversation with someone... like say... intimidate them. You can't roll publicly... and if I may be honest... there are only 2 of you I would trust not to lie about a roll you make in private.

That being said... it could be worth a try.

Oh wait! We would still be meeting every other saturday to play on traipse right? I thought the PBP would be just for talking to each other and planning out what we wanted to do, etc... NOthing actually major, just talking...

It would be. We'll still get together at our normal bi-weekly sessions. The idea I'm toying with is TM's original suggestion. That is to say... use PBP in between sessions for chatting and character development.

My concern about rolling is a moot point. I found a way around it. Carry on discussing wheather or not you guys would like to do this.

              Cid... voice your reservations.

Just sort of brainstorming what we're gonna do during down time between sessions is fine by me.

I'll put together something more compelling than "because I said so, dammit" for Yyg later tonight or tomorrow at work. Could be I misunderstood the proposal entirely.

Let me give a for instance of what could transpire in th PBP.

Mez could change up what spells he wants to memorize before resting and continuing on. I could list out the spells so everyone would know. We'd probably rest somewhere close to heal the wounded, we could also talk with the princess to get more info. She might have info about the duke, maybe needing help with something herself, maybe side quests. We could talk about what direction we wanted to take. We could go back to some towns in case we wanted to question other people, whether it's back to the bar we left, or going to the blacksmith to upgrade weapons. Maybe you guys want me to craft some weapons, etc. ONce we get close to a battle or get to a situation Yyg feels like he can't control in the PBP system, he calls a time out until our next meeting.

If we do do rolls we should just make Murphie roll stuff. he always seems to get the best ones anyway

Would Blacksmithing fall under Craft or Profession? I still need to put a point into it for background story purposes.
