I don't think you people really understand how D&D combat goes. Which, to be fair, is understandable.

I played many wizards in my time, and let me tell you, the feeling of uselessness in combat (and in combat only, everywhere else I was a fucking BOSS), doesn't last long.

Silent Hunter is ok but I did specify that everyone is starting with 100GP. No more. No less. That GP is to be used to buy anything and everything you will need to start. Weapons, armor, clothing, lockpicking tools... etc. Choose wisely... and don't to at least cough up the 1 gil for a traveler's outfit so you're not freaking naked.

I played D&D with my best friend growing up as DM from 6 - 14 years old. It was pretty much just him DM'ing and me playing his campaigns, so yeah, it was probably very mellow in comparison to what you've done. I had fun though... ENough to get me in on the Pool of Radiance series (which was fucking epic at the time) the Icewind Dale series, the Baldur's Gate series, Neverwinter night series, etc... I enjoy it, but I am in no way a know it all.

I missed this and rolled for my gold. My character sheet should reflect 8 gp rather than 98 gp, then. Fixing it. Lucky that I'm still able to buy all the same equipment. Works out better roleplay-wise for me to be on the edge of broke, anyway.

If you take Colour Spray at first level you're a God in combat from Lv1 onwards in battle at least.

The out of combat applications of it depend on how much crap the DM is willing to let you get away with though.
