    NEWS FROM THE FRONT LINES!

My friend Adam will definately be joining us until at least late September. His recruitment with the Navy has gone well and he'll likely be shipping out to the Great Lakes in August. Until then, he's shown interest in playing a nomadic Monk with wanderlust. I haven't fully decided how to integrate him into the party just yet but I'll have that figured out by next week.

Question 1: How does your character get along with people? How about people of other races?
My character was brought up by priests and monks for as long as he can remember. Their deity Irori is Lawful Neutral and their religion is the pursuit of mental and physical perfection so he's not really concerned with social or racial boundaries. He'll get along with anyone that's willing, but he lacks social skills, so he doesn't know how to make small talk and slang/humor/double entendres usually fly right over his head. Kind of tangential but for the same reasons he's mediocre at persuasion or intimidation. He only knows how to take things at face value and say what he means.
How does your character get along with creatures of another species? Do they harbor any hatred or love of one in specific?
All life is sacred to my character, which is why I stabilised the super-lynx instead of letting it die. He'll only allow himself to kill Evil creatures, which for the sake of simplicity I'm assuming are evil without any hope of redemption.
Question 3: How does your character view their alignment? What about opposing alignments?
My character is pretty clear on himself being Lawful Good. He believes dishonesty and deceit are signs of mental weakness and will point it out when he sees it in others. He will tolerate Chaotic behavior when it does no harm, but not when it's selfish. Zero tolerance for evil or doing others harm.

Question 1: How does your character get along with people? How about people of other races?

My character has lived around human settlements for most of her life and more or less grew up n them (120 is pretty young for an elf and makes her about 18 in human terms), so she's quite used to other races purely because she has spent a lot of time in and around mostly human kingdoms/dukedoms/whatever. She does dislike how short lived a lot of other races are though and does try and not get too close to them since she knows they'll be dead long before her i9n some way or another. So she'd generally be more immediately friendly towards the more long lived races (like Armando's Dwarf)

Question 2: How does your character get along with creatures of another species? Do they harbor any hatred or love of one in specific?

I noted in my sheet that Lili has a fear of the undead. To her the dead should stay dead and as an elf she feels that it's a total abomination of nature and defilements of life in general. So the very concept of the walking dead horrifies her.

As for everything else. Lili is generally nice to all living things and really only kills creatures that she either plans to eat or those that force her to defend herself. It's why she didn't try to stop Armando's PC from stabilising the Lynx but was also pretty annoyed at Mezlo's character for cutting off Byakko's balls.

Question 3: How does your character view their alignment? What about opposing alignments?

Lili generally goes a by a "Screw the rules, I'm doing what's right" mentality. While she is a thief she does act in a more Robin Hood manner in that she only really steals from the people who have it coming or the people that won't miss the money. While she does try to act in what is in the interest of the group, she is prone to selfish behaviour at times.

When dealing with lawful characters, Lili is generally fine as long as they don't get all preachy or bother her.

Neutral characters, she will work with them as long as their actions are not clearly evil or malevolent.

Evil characters Lili will only work with out of necessity. Being chaotic she's pretty likely to backstab the evil character at the first chance they get and either turn him in or simply eliminate him out of pragmatism. If a lawful character would let them go then there would be a conflict there.

Right. You made that decision while I was still away talking on the phone, and you didn't know I was going to save it, so I didn't bring it up. I mean, it would've been awkward to say "Put those back" and retcon the fact that you ever cut them off to begin with. But as a rule of thumb my character will always try to save non-evil creatures from death and won't allow you to mutilate anything unnecessarily while it's still alive. (It was still funny to me, out of character.)

I realize that kind of throws a wrench on looting certain mobs but I imagine Yyg will take that into consideration in the future.

Well it certainly hampers any opportunities to get armor custom made from the hides of powerful beasties we might encounter. I'm not gonna knock it though, it's good to have a character with strong convictions.

Alright! I love the answers you guys gave me... although some of them could have been summed up in 1 word (indifferent). Either way... every little bit of info helps me to build the world and it's inhabitants more catered to your specific characters.

And with that said... I present you with todays questions!

Question 1: Is your character a member of an organization? Have they ever been? Do they want to be? Explain.

Question 2: What is your character's current current short-term goal? What's their long-term goal? Have either of those goals changed since the campaign started?

Question 3: What... or who... does your character love? If the answer is "noone/nothing", why is that?

Question 1: Is your character a member of an organization? Have they ever been? Do they want to be? Explain.

My character has been part of small town hunting parties. After he left his ravaged town, leaving behind dead fmaily members, he verntured from town to town looking for work and a means to learn magic. Some of the towns he went through were small enough that they had hunting parties they'd send out to help bring in some meet for the town. He would join up and help bring in some game. This was to help out others with his superior hunting skills, but also for his own ends being that he'd be abel to get a belly full of meat, as well as many a cups of mead and ale for thanks from the town members. He would be open to joining a magic users guild or hall to help him further his quest for power and noteriety, but only for his own personal gains. With magic being sparse throughout the country, he has never run across such an organization.

Question 2: What is your character's current current short-term goal? What's their long-term goal? Have either of those goals changed since the campaign started?

Money, knowledge, power. Long term, money, knowledge, power. He want others to know his name and know his accomplishments. He would like to have a family as well in the long run, but wants to wait until he's powerful enough to protect them. He doesn't hold a grudge towards his father for not being able to protect his family / village against the raiders, but deep down he knows there are other people out there that want to hurt him and his family to be for their own personal gains, and he wants to make sure he's well prepared for when he crosses paths with those individuals. NOthings changed. He wants more experience, thus more power. He wants more money and more noteriety.

Question 3: What... or who... does your character love? If the answer is "noone/nothing", why is that?[/QUOTE]

He currently loves nothing, except looking at Lily's fine ass. jk... He hasnt allowed himself to love until he feels he has ther means to protect them. He's lost loved ones before, and he's not going to put himself in that situation again. He does look for some welcomed female companions though in each town he visits. He's smart enough to find the ones that would be interested (usually non-married hot ones) and hangs out with them while in town, no strings attached, just for fun.

Sooo... I just realized... I have inventory this weekend, it's company wide. I was home last inventory by 1:30pm my time, 4:30pm EST. I'm trying to get us better prepared so I could be home around 1pm, but in reality it could be between 1-3pm. PLease carry on without me, I'll be on, I dont want to hold the group up and I will be there. Yyg, PM me your phone number again and I can keep you updated with how inventory is going and when I should be home.

Nope. The closest thing to an organization my character has been a part of got themselves killed. Being part of that was happenstance more than it was a driving ambition to be part of an organization.

Short term goals would be steady employment with lucrative pay, enough for good meals and enough gold to spare to spend on luxuries.
I'm not sure my character has any long-term goals at this point.

Traditionally speaking... from a DM's perspective... there are 8 different categories of player personality that govern how players are expected to behave in any given scenario. These categories are given numerical values based on observations of that player's actions and decisions. The 8 categories are as follows:

                            Actor
                            Explorer
                            Instigator
                            Power Gamer
                            Slayer
                            Storyteller
                            Thinker
                            Watcher

Every player is a mix-match of these qualities... and only truly dominant in 1 of the 8.

I'm piecing you all into your respective categories while you answer my questions and progress through the campaign. It takes about 5-6 sessions to really get a feel for the final results... and until then... my numbers will be in flux. However... I did read both of your responses in the above-mentioned reaction and have given one of you a high score in one category and the other a very low score in the same category.
