We returned the princess and returned to the city for our reward.
Then we heard that the other search parties had not returned and went out to investigate to see if they were also ambushed by those gaurds.
Our search led us to a port town that's not on the best of terms with Duke what's-his-toes that sent us out at the beginning of the adventure.
The party returned the Duke's Daughter to her father in Oceans Edge and recieved their reward and thanks from the City's Leader himself. Following the reward, the party was offered 2 unique jobs. The first was to assist him in dispatching the Centaurs who were preventing his deforesting operation to the north. The King... having asked him to fell the forest in order to build warships, might be displeased with the halted production. Alternatively, the party was asked to seek out the other 3 parties who had been sent out from the city... as none of them had returned.
The party felt confilicted with option 1 and so they opted to head south in search of one of the missing parties. A few days journey south brought them to the steep cliffs on the southern edge of the continent... where another natural 20 roll alerted the party to the signs of a massive struggle near the cliff's edge. Blood and boot prints scattered the sand and the bodies of at least 4 men could be seen at the bottom of the rocky cliff.
Following the footsteps in the sand, the party headed west until they were ambushed by a very angry... and very large Spectral Lynx that emerged from the marshlands north of them and attacked the party unprovoked. After a few rounds of fighting, the party managed to fell the beast and mezlo harvested its... uhh... manly bits... to sell off in the next town.
Folowing the fight with the lynx, the group finished their trek to the southern Port city of Tertullia where they waarily came to notice that the guards were similarly dressed to the ones who has been attacking them. Strangely... none seemed all too concerned with the partie's presence and allowed them easy passage through the city gates. After some small talk about what this could all mean, the party summized that a faction of guards from this city must be independantly involved with the attacks being made against Ocean's Edge. Their theories were confirmed after... you guessed it... a natural 20 diplomacy check on the barstaff at the Lusty Ogre in town.
As it turns out, King Daedalus of Alpha Pendilia has come to favor the Duke of Ocean's Edge for his loyalty and devotion to the crown and has been rewarding him more handsomely than the other dukes... and Tertullia's Duke is none to happy about it. In fact, it's suspected that he would stop at nothing to hinder Ocean's Edge in any way possible.
With this information in hand, the party chose to bunker down in the Lusty Ogre and pick up their research in the morning.
It's too damn quiet in here. Time to probe you all with questions that should hopefully (and I strongly encourage) spark some conversation with one another. I'll be hitting you with a few questions a day in an effort to learn about your characters and help you all learn about one another in the process.
Unless it's in your nature *cougharmandocough*, try not to over-analyze the questions and answer how you envision your character would.
Take into consideration that I'll be keeping record of your responses and reactions to one another so that I can better structure encounters and NPC interactions in the future.
For now, we'll start small.
Question 1: How does your character get along with people? How about people of other races?
Question 2: How does your character get along with creatures of another species? Do they harbor any hatred or love of one in specific?
Question 3: How does your character view their alignment? What about opposing alignments?

He's a bit reserved. Having everyone you know and care about killed in a single melee tends to make you hesitant to let new people into your life right away. Clearly he's not averse to working with people, but warming up to them might take some time.
My character hasn't had overly much contact with other humanoid races but has certainly encountered them before. He hasn't had any experiences that would make how he gets along with them different from run-of-the-mill humans. Indifferent would be the word of the day.
Question 3: How does your character view their alignment? What about opposing alignments?
Doesn't give much thought to it. Mostly he's just out to keep himself alive and well fed and he'll do what it takes to accomplish that, whether it be through noble or malicious means is just a product of circumstance.
Good: Oh, that's kind of admirable, if a bit stupid and a good way to get yourself in trouble. Evil: Unpleasant, but efficient. Gets the job done. Lawful: The law isn't of much use to a hungry man. Chaotic: Stirring up too much trouble and getting yourself noticed is a good way to end up dead if you aren't careful.
This is all off the cuff, so I'm not really going for a deep analysis of what motivates my character here.

Question 1: How does your character get along with people? How about people of other races?
He gets along with other people fine. He was raised in a pretty good sized town, so he's used to diversity. He doesn't care about the race of a person, he cares more about their intentions, and whether they will help / hurt him in the long run.
Question 2: How does your character get along with creatures of another species? Do they harbor any hatred or love of one in specific?
No hatred or love, more indifference. Again, it's not the way a person looks or appears, but their intent. If someone is going to help my character better himself, either by skill or gold, he likes them. If they are just another person / animal / species, my character could careless. The only hard feelings my character harbors is for other magic users. It was a rogue mage that was part of a band of looters that tore apart his home town, and killed his family, thus driving him into learning the ways of magic. Any magic user my character comes across, he holds some resentment towards, and questions their true motives, knowing the power of magic, and knowing the destruction and devastation they could cause at the blink of an eye.
Question 3: How does your character view their alignment? What about opposing alignments?[/QUOTE]
Chaotic neutral. My character is all about what's doing best for himself. Losing everyone that mattered to him at an early age, my character's knows he needs to do whats best for himself, because if he doesn't no one else will. Does he need to abide by the laws, no not really. My character has a strong passion for family, but other than that, my character wants power and gold. Doesn't matter your alignment, if you can help my character achieve that, we're going to get along fine.
