I thought Yyg said we'd gain xp after a session which would mean we'd never actually have to chose level up selections during a session, which i think is best. No down time hee-hawing on level up selections. (Even if we have them predetermined, we'd start discussing them and then probably end up changing some. Better to discuss them in this thread as opposed to taking up gaming time.)

He said the opposite if I remember right. He didn't bother dealing out EXP immediately because he knew there was no way we would level during the session. From this point on he's giving out EXP after encounters, because it would be unfair if you accumulated enough EXP to level up but got into a fight without your new level.

I know I won't be gaining any spells next level, but as soon as I get my 2nd level spells I'm picking Admonishing Ray. 4d6 is pretty sweet even if it's non-lethal.

Armando is correct. I originally wanted to dish out XP at the close of a session... but given that certain encounters and fights might benefit from players being of a higher level, I opted not to go that rout and I'll be handing out XP as it's earned.

That being the case, I'm trying to think of ways to streamline the leveling process to make it a little faster and less of a burdon mid-session.

So far, all I can come up with is asking you all to try and pick your changes ahead of time so that they can be implimented at the drop of a hat. Mark down somewhere how you're going to distribute your new skill points... how you'll pick your new feats (where applicable) etc. Also try and look up how leveling is going to changed your BAB, Saving Throws and Class skills (including spells) and think of what you'll likely choose when the time comes.

This way, when you level, you can simply quick-edit your sheet on the fly with your pre-chosen info and we can continue without much of a hiccup.

One of the only things that we're going to have to sit down and do together is your HP adjustments. Since you'll all have to roll your appropriate HD to determine your new HP, I want it to be done together and publicly using the dice roller in Traipse.

Try and take that into consideration and get back to me if you have any questions about your tentative choices and changes.

Any changes made, will be final.

So we're rolling for HP increases then?

I might end up taking Toughness after all.

I am not looking forward to rolling a 1 on my hit die. The one thing I can never get used to in D&D is the huge variability of non-binary events. Still, it's what I signed up for so I'll grit my teeth and take it when it happens.

Speaking of D&D video games, I'm surprised Yyg doesn't play Dungeons and Dragons Online. I played it for a while and quite enjoyed it. It had actual interactive dungeons, with platforming and traps that would kill you if you didn't disarm them.

I might end up taking Toughness after all.
Does Toughness do something in Pathfinder other than the +3 HP? I can check d20srd.org but not d20pfsrd.com from work so I'm trying to see the relation between rolling for HP and taking Toughness.
                      Who said I didn't?
                      Guess that settles that.

I figure I'll get a faster answer that way by not ruling out other posters.

It did make the moment where Armando and I were stuck in the cave pretty funny since he wasn't directly talking to you and I was trying my best to communicate with a cold XD

Trying to keep things short and to the point to preserve my throat with you guys was an amusing challenge in itself.

Yes, Toughness is different under Pathfinder. It's much better and actually worth burning a feat on.

                          Toughness

                          You have enhanced physical stamina.

Benefit: You gain +3 hit points. For every Hit Die you possess beyond 3, you gain an additional +1 hit point. If you have more than 3 Hit Dice, you gain +1 hit points whenever you gain a Hit Die (such as when you gain a level).
It's basically +1 HP per level, with the first three levels front-loaded so you get the benefits right away.

Speaking of making changes, I wonder when we'll get our hands on some gold and get a chance to buy more stuff in town.

EDIT: Also, I assume that the currency system here is the same one EverQuest 1 used? 1 gold = 10 silver = 100 copper?

Remember that that extra HP adds up FAST over levels. When you hit 10th level you basically have 10 extra HP to play with on top of what you rolled each level up.

Something just occurred to me. If the +1 HP is awarded when you gain a new hit dice, does that mean picking Toughness at level 9 screws you out of 6 HP?
