Mez was raised in a good sized town with 4 siblings and his mother and dad. The family was middle class and had enough money to do what they wanted but didn't live lavishly. His father was one fo the cities best local hunters since he could shoot lights out with a crossbow. He'd hunt the local game and would sell it to the town butcher / merchant for the meat and hides. Mez's father was taught how to hunt and shoot by his father, and him by his father, going back generations. Mez's family was close, and his father would take out him with his brothers and sisters at a young age to teach them how to shoot a crossbow much like his father did with him. Everyone enjoyed spending the time together and it was a true bonding moment for the family. One night the city was raided by a band of traveling nomads. The strong fighters of the city gathered around Mez's house to try and catch their footing to help push the nomads out. Mez's father and siblings were a great help firing of their crossbows and taking the melee nomads out with each release of their bolts. The nomad leader, a powerful wizard, saw the strength of the defense was coming from the group of ranged attacks coming for Mez's house. The wizard unleashed a flurry of fireballs on the house, obliterating the house and killing all of Mez's fmaily members. With the strength of the towns defense down, the roaming nomads ravaged the town, taking what they wanted, and killing those that opposed. Mez was able to escape fireball blasts, but was thrown 30 feet back behind the house, and knocked unconcious for a day. Mez awoke to the smoking mess left over and the corpses of his friends and family strewning the streets. It was at that moment Mez vowed to avenge his family, vowed to learn magic so that when an instance like this arises again, he'll have the power to fight off the enemy and not lose any more loved ones.

FYI. I'm taking a little bit of creative license with the timeline of these backgrounds.... in order to make them fit together properly.

I already know the circumstances that bring Mezlo and Cid together and I'm working on a justifiable reason for the others to be there.

If you're all forced to meet in a bar, you'll be the one the rest of the party saves from being pummeled to death in the alley for being the fairy in the Jesus jump suit.
