Yyg actually told me over IM not to worry about food. It's just something I'm doing for roleplay. That goes double for the salt. I doubt he's going to keep track of whether our food is spoiling.
Thank god. Worrying about when or when not to eat and how much salt we have left could get cumbersome...
Rope, Silk
This rope has 4 hit points and can be burst with a DC 24 Strength check. It is so supple that it provides a +2 circumstance bonus on Use Rope checks.
Hempen ropes burst with a DC 23 Strength check and don't provide the circumstance bonus. The silk rope also weighs half as much, but costs 10 GP instead of 1 GP.
On an unrelated note: Yyg, what kind of options do we have for explosives, either mundane or magical?
Nothing at your immediate disposal. For the most part, Explosives will be magic... or in the form of make-shift napalm/Molotov Cocktails.
It really boils down to whether your character is capable of making it... has seen it before... or would even be smart enough to come up with such an idea.
Something a lot of first time (and even vet) players forget is that in order to roleplay correctly, you have to act within the parameters of your character's stats.
If your INT score is a 10, you're no smarter than the average peasant. If you're a 12, you're on the high end. Anything above a 12 classifies you as increasingly smarter by scale.
If you're of a peasant mentality, you wouldn't know the first thing about explosives or how they're made. Why would you?
As such, if you propose to me that your character has had "an inspiration" while looking at a bottle of alcohol and a rag... I'll just decline that the thought ever occurred to you.
Suppose a bottle spills onto a table and is ignited by coming in contact with a candle and subsequently explodes. In a situation like that, someone of an INT score 12+ might have an idea to harness this and experiment with it.
Does a Wisdom score of 16 make me superbly street-wise? A genius at reading people? A spiritual guru? Serious question. I didn't think 12 would be so high on the scale given how easy it is to get to with points.
Pet peeve: We still are not playing this game yet.
It would be hilarious that the idea of playing this game is funner to us than the game itself.
a 12 is on the low scale for an adventurer... but take into consideration that the average person is illiterate. A score 10 10 is just enough to make you capable of reading and writing. A 12 suggests you had a minimal amount of schooling.
Think of INT scores in terms of modern schooling.
8 - Never went to school of any kind
10 - Elementary School Education
12 - Middle School Education
14 - High School Education
16 - College Education
18 - Grad School Degree
20 - Fused with another Grad Student... Fu... sion.... HA!
K. So, again, in your opinion, what does high Wisdom and low Charisma translate into roleplaying? I have a lot of intuition and insight but I have a hard time persuading people, making friends and wording things in a way that doesn't chafe everyone's nuts?
My character wasn't a peasant. I don't know shit about farming.
Neither do the peasants, or they wouldn't be starving.
