I also don't have a name for my character because I'm terrible at that. But otherwise I'm pretty sure my character is set.
Heavy steel shield costs 10 gp less than a tower, and weights less by 30 lbs.

Is it OK if I defer the backstory bits to when we actually get going? I don't know the first thing (well, I know the first thing, but not the second or third or the rest of the series) about your world or D&D lore. I figure I can make it up as I go?

Btw, salt is way too effing expensive. 5 gp a pound? Dear god. I wanted to cure some of this meat.
I'll have my character loaded up on Pathfinder tonight. Are we really going for this Saturday? Have we even determined a time yet??? Also, as mentioned before I play D&D as a kid and the small details like back packs, food, salt, etc were never even broached. Sooo... I'll be relying on some of you veterans to help out. So my gear so far is:

            Heavy Crossbow - 50 gp
            30 bolts - 5 gp
dagger (concealed in sleeve) - 2 gp
            backpack - 2 gp
            caltrops - 1 gp
tent (is this something i can carry? is it only for 1 person? no murphy, there's a protection from murphy seal that keeps you out)- 10 gp
            soap - 5 sp
            50 ft rope - 1 gp
10 days rations (do i need more?) - 5 gp
            2 pints oil - 2 sp
            2 vials - 2 gp
flint and steel - 1 gp

Do i need parchment and ink? So, a total of 79 gp and 7 sp spent.

Yyg actually told me over IM not to worry about food. It's just something I'm doing for roleplay. That goes double for the salt. I doubt he's going to keep track of whether our food is spoiling.

I think the real question here is why are you not packing rope.

That would be another way to approach the question, and not knowing the answer is making me uneasy.

Because duct tape doesn't exist yet.

One thing I learned in D&D is that you can never have enough rope.

If I could make a new pauldron out of duct tape I would.

Do we need to a skill check to tie them together into a really long rope?

Probably. There was the Use Rope skill in 3.5, but I don't know what it would fall under in Pathfinder.
