You're not getting to spontaneously decide which spell to cast at any given moment, you still have to prep X instances of Magic Missle and Mage Armor.
In other words... Im letting Wizards keep their enormous pool of spell choices but allow them to remember and cast spells like Sorcerers.
With the way he worded it, it sounds like Wizards don't need to prepare spell slots. If that is the case I can leave my Spellbook somewhere safe (Like on Jaggerbad or something or in a secure room in the Feywild) so I can still use it to learn new spells (unless we don't need the book to learn new spells), but going into a combat encounter being able to cast like a Sorc.

I was actually going to go Rogue/Sorc at first but wanted the versatility, School Specialisations (Illusion Specialisation with Necromancy and Enchantment as barred schools) and ability to learn new spells that a Wizard has. Plus Arcane Bond is a really nice Class Feature. too since it is basically a free spell slot of any level for your Specialised School (I'm an Illusionist, good god this is going to be fun).

That ruling is kind of insane since if we ever find a scroll, Mez and I can just learn what is on it when we can get back to our books and be able to cast it from then on.

      You're still not understanding...

There is no need to learn spells and there is no spellbook. We have access to all the spells that are within level to cast, some might be off limits but I haven't encountered one yet. Whenever we rest you prepare what spells you want per the number of spells you an cast. You use the spells and then when we rest you can memorize the same spells or new spells.

Oh so we're doing it like Clerics. Okay that is going to be awesome. I wish I realised this easier actually since I've been restricting myself to the same spells since I started taking Wizard levels

            Yeah, pretty much.

Also, I just found one of the must fun and interesting spells in a while:

It's a third level spell available to almost every spellcaster (except Paladin), and it increases our flexibility when it comes to choosing spells. Mezlo and I could both prepare that spell and if I see we're going to need more than one Fireball or Enlarge Person or Gravity Bow, I cast it on him before he casts his spell. If we see we're gonna need another use of Obscuring Mist or Protection From Evil or Silence, he casts it on me. In that way we don't have to pack as many extras of critical spells and can instead bring a wider variety of spells, knowing that we can do a second cast of any of them as long as they're 3rd level or lower.

Okay now I know that we're handling the spells like that. I think we will see Giant Theron and probably Giant Jarre much more often.

I've actually been wanting to see an enlarged Jarre. He already does pretty high damage at his normal size.

Yeah I could take Bull's Strength too. +4 STR is basically +10% to hit and +2 damage and + God Knows What to Combat Manoeuvres add that with making someone Large and you can see why I'm happy with being the Wizard with Sneak Attack in Combat and a Rogue with Spells out of combat for now until I can start taking Arcane Trickster levels.

Actually, since Jarre's Greatsword is medium, Giant!Jarre could actually dual wield them if he had Two Weapon Fighting Feats to make it worthwhile.

                  - - - Updated - - -

Actually putting Bull's Strength on myself would be fun too since +2 on top of my Sneak Attack damage makes that +1 Dagger I have pretty nice and more attractive than the regular Rapier that I have for when I need to help someone flank a mob.

The weapon grows in size with the wielder, so no dual wield (plus you take a penalty for using weapons of improper size.) His 2d6 (average 7) Great Sword becomes 3d6 (average 10.5), and of course the range doubles. That's in addition to the +2 STR.

If you have two spell slots to devote to buffing, I'd argue it's better to pack two Enlarge Person than one Enlarge Person + Bull's Strength. Two enlarged people will do better than en Enlarged person with Bull's Strength, especially when you consider the insane range both would cover and the fact that each person would have a separate count for attacks of opportunity. Plus, Enlarge Person takes up a lower level spell slot leaving you with more room for second level spells.

Yeah plus given that we have spellcasters, I would say Fox's Cunning and Owl's Wisdom would be better since they increase spell DCs by 2 which means we will get more mileage out of things like Colour Spray and Sound Burst

Maybe Fox's Cunning. I don't get to cast enough offensive spells to be worth Owl's Wisdom.

Although personally I think we'd get more mileage out of something like Rope Trick or Silence.

EDIT: If you want some laughs, look at Unnatural Lust and Seducer's Eyes.

Interesting considering Jarre is currently 6ft high does that make him 12ft high with a 10ft reach, sounds a good strategy for boss fighting.

Pretty much. Enlarge Person is basically a can of whoop-ass and almost every time Mezlo's cast it the battle ends shortly afterwards.
