You know, SE had a good showing...

Until they unveiled Cloud gaming service named Shinra Technologies and that one of thier partners was Avalanche. Now I'm not so sure.

Type 0 and Agito look fine, but FFXV seems like they just we like "I don't know what this is now, make it like Xenoblade, but as a road trip."

Yeah I was rather confused as well by the trailer. It LOOKS all pretty and cool, but we've had that particular carrot dangled in front of us too many times now. SE needs to put out some tangible, worth-while details.

It's nice they showed gameplay, it's just that I look at Xenoblade Chronicles X and back at FFXV and the former just seems more ambitious. SE has had 8 years to try and dazzle us with this one and other studios are actually releasing games like it in a fraction of the time.

Big adamantoise is cool and all, but big worlds are a bit more exciting. Just what I've seen of MGSV and very little of Zelda Wii U was more impressive than what SE showed. You got the sense of scale right away. FFXV looked like a trip across the American southwest, which is like the least interesting place to drive through.

Plus the dialogue wasn't all that great, they all looked and talked like a bunch of highschool tards which wasn't particularly encouraging.

And yeah like you said, it's too similar to Xenoblade (so far) except we already know what to expect from X given the previous game's astonishing performance. People are still reeling from the 13 series and while on the one hand SE may need to tread lightly, I think they're better off being really bold and doing something new - which I've yet to see from XV. If the combat handles similar to Lightning Returns did though I'll be quite happy, as the combat was pretty satisfying in that game - hasn't been that good in a single player FF since Crisis Core.

Not just that, but Treehouse gave us a big look at Chronicles X via livestream at E3. More gameplay footage there than SE has shown with this in eight years and XCX probably isn't even a tenth of the budget.

God only knows how much Konami poured into MGS V and is pouring into Silent Hills, but I doubt it will be the money SE has spent on FFXV keeping it alive. Not saying it will be bad, but these big projects that leap on gen to the next never seem to end well.

Standard operating procedure with Triple A Devs is to not listen to the marketing teams as the game will likely be decent (just not great), but will be nowhere near what the hysterical hype is screaming about. I don't see any reason to abandon that procedure with Zero and VX.
