Oh mew, I initially bought a 3DS XL for Fire Emblem Awakening (which is the most amazing and emotionally driven SRPG since FFTactics, mew! If only Sega had a team like this doing new Shining Force games. FE:A is like The Elder Scrolls of SRPGs (with entirely better characters and companions, the character creation has a TES Oblivion angle to it, but much much better role and interaction between the player and the "hero"). Though shame it will be overlooked by even the Nintendo fanbase since it's not Mario, Zelda or Metroid.)

Senran Kagura Burst looks to have cool gameplay and rich character interaction along with lighthearted and dark story themes in a refreshing ninja universe, mew. Of course, like a community member said, Shinovi Versus is like the Mario 64 of Senran Kagura, making the gameplay,modes, enviornments and everything so much better, but Senran Kagura Burst has its own exclusive qualities (kind of like no matter how much people prefer Zelda OOT, they could also like LTTP just as much. )

With this localized release, this could encourage SE to develop Ninja sooner for FFXIV ARR as well (although I still don't know how they will surpass FFXI NIN AF design, the only weakpoint of FFXI NIN AF design was the headgear, which looked wacky, it would have been better with just a headband, well at least it doesn't have a silly feather like the FFXIV Monk AF design, that feather thing is like "shloop!" , then again, it's better than anything Bard wears! *runs* ).

Sorry, I couldn't hear you over all the awesome, more worthwhile games on my 3DS.

Plus if I really wanted a good beat-em-up with large breasts in it, I'd just play Dragon's Crown on Vita or PS3.

You honestly believe Dragon's Crown is better than Senran Kagura, mew? Well gameplay wise, it is debatable, co-op wise, Dragon's Crown wins, but storywise and playable character selection wise, Senran Kagura Burst wins. 10 unique ninjas beats 6 unique classes (oh wait it's 12, counting the 2 secret characters). As for replay value.... well that's subjective. Though I think Senran Kagura Burst has a more meaty adventure than Dragon's Crown. I think even Muramasa is a more enjoyable adventure than Dragon's Crown, mew.

Senran Kagura Burst: A Wardrobe Malfunction Of Epic Proportions

A commentor made a good point how westerners really are insecure about games with sexual themes and how even a good game doesn't get the respect it deserves when it takes the T&A approach for some degree of its fanservice. That really isn't all it is. It has great emotional story and characters, mew.

I'm frankly disappointed that the reviewer just seems to hold some weird grudge against innocuous sexual fun and calls it 'smut' (it's really not that risque at all considering the girls never do anything truly smutty other than maybe a girl fondling another girl or making silly sexual jokes. It never really goes into a true sexual territory for real) and says the gameplay is somehow weighed down by the sexual elements. I don't think I can agree with that at all. For one, the game was built from the ground up to be fanservice minded and I feel they actually gave each and every girl pretty fascinating (sometimes even tragic) backstories and the story progression was pretty interesting to me. Secondly, the action doesn't feel that awkward at all to me. Could it have been better action-wise? Sure, but I feel they have already made positive strides in Shinovi Versus on the Vita and there's room to grow.

And again, I don't really know why the sexual nature of the game has to be put up against a corner like this.

Well that's because those that hold onto their closed minded cultures and misguided principles against what's most natural about humans, can't accept sexual themes as easily as they can with violent themes. No one has an issue massacreing people and doing terrible crimes in GTA games, but they have issues with games with sexual themes, particularly everytime the story centers on girls. What the mew is with people? It's okay to glorify graphic violence/crime but not sex?

Senran Kagura Burst really has a story that really isn't that different from the good vs evil and "power of friendship" plots that flood franchises out there.
Plus the characters do have interesting backstories and personalities, aside from the perverted ones.

The story isn't system seller class, but it's definitely much more than what you find in most brawlers (and the character interaction puts some big budget RPGs to shame. It just goes to show how much the FFXIII series is tame, when even a fanservice beat em up has better characters, story and overall backstories/personalities/relationships.

The characters are explored at much more psychological levels than you come across in most story driven games, and that is a feat considering there are 5 main characters per ninja academy.) And the gameplay is very nice too. combat can get repetitive, but the same can be said about any general beatem up or RPG, mew.
