PS4 version of CoD: Ghosts isn't even playable for 3 more weeks because the PS4 doesn't launch until Nov. 29 in Europe.

That didn't stop it from outselling:

Assassin's Creed IV (week 2) for PS3
Battlefield 4 (week 2) for PS3
Call of Duty: Ghosts for PC
Call of Duty: Ghosts for Wii U
Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy for 3DS

Apparently PS4 CoD: Ghosts made up 3% of the overall sales of the game in the UK last week. Xbox One version didn't even register a blip (despite releasing 1 week earlier than PS4 in the UK!), and the PC and Wii U versions combined for less than 1% (and note that the PC version outsold the Wii U version too).

You can tell we're ready for next gen.

Of course it's outselling those, mew. It's the only next gen launch game that delivers equal respect towards female characters, well at least in multiplayer playability. That is a revolutionary step forward for COD.

That isn't funny, mew!! I'll have you know that COD has become more appealing to more girl gamers thanks to female soldiers in COD Ghosts multiplayer. Some still use the male soldiers, but female soldiers is a big deal to girl gamers that prefer playable female characters (just like most guys aren't interested in games like Neptunia because it's all girls, but some give that new Atelier a chance because it has a guy and a girl as protagonists.) I mean where would Street Fighter be if it was only guys in the series roster? or The Elder Scrolls for that matter.

More playable character selection/creation and diversity will make games appealing to more people.
It's kind of like how now Peach is finally playable in a new top quality SMB platformer (took Nintendo long enough, now if they add more characters likeDaisy and Rosalina as standard playable characters, they could get more attention and sales too. Peach has been playable since SMB2, yet was demoted for a long time, only now she gets involved in a top quality SMB game that isn't low budget like Super Princess Peach. characters like Peach shouldn't be limited to Party and Kart games. )

It is a big deal to many fans, including girl gamers (and catgirls, mew).

The same case for Pokemon ever since it implemented playable female trainer. Humans have two genders, and a multitude of races/ethnicities, a game that provides more variety of playable character types, will get more attention and respect. It's a known fact (just like P3P is totally better offering gender selection, which should be a standard feature and Persona 3 Portable proves Atlus can provide that feature as standard, just like what KOTOR, Jade Empire, Mass Effect, and others have provided more custom MC options. )

I am not saying that's the only reason COD Ghosts is selling so well, but it is one of the significant things that more games should provide if they want to expand their fanbase and sales.
A lot of people care about the type of character they play, it's actually one of the top 2 reasons most play something. If the playable character in the gameplay isn't something they prefer, they'll skip it.

but ya, it just goes to show the majority of developers are closed minded and self centered, only caring about the type of character they prefer or think "the majority" prefer, but don't bother to take everyone into account. That's why character creation is always a valuable feature to include that benefits all games, even the MC driven ones (Fire Emblem Awakening also further showed that created character options can work with great role, interaction and story involved too, much better than premade characters. )

And honestly, it does seem to be only the diehard fanboys that want to get the Xbox One in the UK. The Price tag and the fact that a lot of people still don't know about the DRM and Used Games u-turn is a huge dealbreaker. There are a lot, and I mean a lot of Playstation fans in the UK who only got the 360 because it was £100 (just under $160) less. Now the Playstation is the cheaper option a lot of fans are flocking back to it in droves.

Personally, while I think the 360 has the better launch lineup (Ryse and Forza do interest me a lot more than what the PS4 is offering), the PS4 does seem like it would be the better investment in the long run.

Honestly if they announced something like Dynasty Warriors or the next Tomb Raider as a PS4 exclusive, it would bury the Xbox one for good in the UK (and Europe too given total EU sales of DW8 topped the Wii U).

Why Female Soldiers Were Finally Added to Call of Duty's Multiplayer

"We really want players to feel more connected and engaged with who they are as a player," Ghosts executive producer Mark Rubin told me earlier today. "We felt that that was something that casual players, who are a huge portion of our fan base, would benefit the most from.

There was also an article where Infinity Ward said that a significant amount of Call of Duty gamers are female.

"It wasn't us saying, 'How can we attract women to [our game]?'" Rubin said in an interview with Polygon. "That's not going to do it and that wasn't our goal. So that implies their main goal was to acknowledge the female gamers that play Call of Duty, more than attracting more women to play Call of Duty (which was definitely one of their goals even though it wasn't their primary intent. It goes without saying adding female character creation option will naturally attract more females to play it.)

As i understand it Ghosts is the most phoned-in entry of the series, period so what's going to stink is that everyone that traded in Black Ops II and thier PS3 is going to wish they had just waited.

Of what I have tried with PS4 so far Contrast is fun, Octodad has horrible controls and should have stayed on PC and Knack was a complete bore and was rushed to make launch. Feels more like a tech demo than a game.

Ghost is fucking horrible, to the point where I think my brother is finally going to stop buying the damn games.

The game's official FB page is filled with literally nothing but hate - people are up in arms over how retardedly bad the spawns are. You'd think that by 10 games they'd have something as simple as the spawns down pat but nope! It's entirely too common that you'll kill someone only to have them spawn very close to you, or even directly behind you. I watched my bro play the other night and I shit you not he got spawn-killed FOUR TIMES IN A ROW, and not once could he even take a single step before being killed.

That kind of shoddy programming is just unacceptable (to say nothing of the horrible lag and hit detection that still plagues the series). The campaign was pretty stupid too, they basically ripped of Homefront only it's "The Foundation" - a united South America that formed after the fall of the Arab nations instead of a united Korea in the wake of rising oil prices etc. etc. The game opens with them taking raiding The Odin, an orbital missile platform created by the U.S.


The funny thing is, the game was supposed to have been written by some really famous and respected director or w/e, but the story is so bullshit and unbelievable it's laughable.


#1) The very notion of the U.S. putting up an orbital weapons platform is ludicrous - the U.N. would condemn it in an instant and it's not like they could just sneak it up there with no one noticing either.

#2) Even if said platform were given the green light, are you seriously gonna tell me that it gets boarded by a bunch of South American militants without anyone noticing, and then commandeered and made to fire on California? BULLSHIT! The security around that thing would be insane, there's not a chance in Hell anything could get within miles of it without authorization. At the very least I would think there'd be a self-destruct mechanism in place or some other form of contingency plan. The whole premise of the game's plot is just utter nonsense and more Hollywood bullshit by a hack who has no concept of how a real, professional military works.


That said, I can't wait to play through BF4 and tear its campaign to shreds over the same things (though I've heard BF4's campaign is actually quite good this time and there's 3 diff endings)
