Sony announces flOw, flOwer, Sound Shapes, Escape Plan as Cross-Buy for PS4/Vita

A little late to the party here but...

Flower, flOw, Sound Shapes, Escape Plan Coming to PS4 – PlayStation.Blog

Not that these titles really "needed" to be on PS4 (flOw is already 1080p, Sound Shapes has a minimalistic art style that doesn't need the extra resolution).

Only flOwer and Escape Plan will really benefit visually, and only Escape Plan will see any sort of significant gameplay changes (touchpad controls).

On the plus side, anyone who already owns these games for PS3 and/or PS Vita will get the new versions for free. Cross-buy (buy on one platform, own it on all of them) is a fantastic idea and something I'm glad to see Sony embracing.

Oh really? I thought they said digital purchases on PS3 wouldn't transfer over though.

Wonder if this means they'll add Journey as well :O

Its a port. Because the PS4 not include any kind of PS3 archetecture in the PS4, everything rereleased that they might think has some place on PS4 must be a port. Yoshida was already talking about The Last of Us and other games getting a PS4 version (because it was sooo smart to not make PS4 with BC but they'll spend millions porting PS3 games). Naughty Dog said they had no plans for it, but that means jack because that soft of thing can be farmed out to a third party to do.

Also, who thought porting Escape Plan to PS4 was a good idea? Its more of a proof of concept than a game and its not even a good proof of concept.

He didn't say it was a port, he said "purchase" which implies software license with respect to PSN shop purchases...cross play basically I guess?

I highly doubt Sony will pay millions for ports of games but they may choose to port selected games if they think it will be financially viable...probably a better idea than buying that multimedia company just so we can "possibly" play cloud versions of games we've already bought...Any news on that chestnut?

I didn't like Escape Plan that much, as you say, it was a tech demo of the devices touch capabilities...now if someone re-did the 2D oddworld games with similar controls and HD gfx that might work

All we know is its coming sometime in 2014. I wouldn't expect any news about it before the PS4 launch. I think Sony's American and European side are trying to figure out how to sell it because Sony Japan clearly wasn't thinking beyond their own borders when they bought Gaikai.

BBQ beat me to it but it looks like we will have to wait until 2014 so see what on earth Sony are planning with Gaikai. I don't want it to flop but I am pretty cautious in my enthusiasm regarding Gaikai.

As for the cross platform thing. It's a good concept, would like to see more of it. Interested in seeing where they do with this.
