Sony definitely had a stronger presentation than MS, mostly the right focus, better software and a better price point.

My only quibbles were the very weak coverage of Vita (again) and they still really didn't make a compelling case for Gaikai. They did thankfully keep the "social" and "sharing" rubbish to a minimum, though.

I still don't really see the need to own a PS4 at launch, though. Seems all the real action is from Spring 2014 onward.

Not literally, but Jack Tretton basically just listed off 1 after the other all the bullshit MS is doing with XB1 and said "Yeah, we're not doing that crap."

Looks like free online multiplayer might be a thing of the past with PS4. This was a point they glossed over at the conference.

Not too big of a deal in my mind considering PS Plus is a pretty decent value now, but still worth pointing out.

Yeah it's a nitpick at best honestly, especially that's money I was previously dumping on Xbox Live. And it's not entirely unreasonable either, I mean all that network crap doesn't come cheap, and like you said, at least Sony actually rewards customer loyalty.

Kind of sad, really, that "it's not the Xbox One" seems to be the PS4's biggest selling point. A good chunk of its tongue-in-cheek features really are things past generations took as a given. Were these even things that needed to be brought into question in the first place? Not at all a slight against Sony so much as a wag of the finger to Microsoft.

Nintendo's biggest mistake this generation may very well have been releasing the Wii U as early as they did--namely, before the Xbox One's announcement--with all the ludicrously easy potshots to take at Microsoft now.
